How Are You Feeling? (cont'd)

My ex boyfriend from 25 years ago who had recently reached out to me to idk reminisce, he said I was his longest friend, but he messaged me last night and tells me leaving Michigan away from me was the worst decision he ever made, he never stopped loving me, and some pretty intense feelings and than I get a fb voice note from his brother today that he hung himself. His brother is deaf and I was not sure that's what I heard but when I called his brother he said my brother hung himself last night at midnight. I asked he was at hospital and he said thst he was dead. I can't function or describe what I feel and the family omg I'm lost for words. My heart physically hurts, I cried to my mom on the phone for the past hour.3 points -

The older I get the less I can tolerate alcohol. Honestly I don't even drink anymore for this exact reason. Can't handle the hangovers anymore. Not worth it at all. I don't even remember the last time I had a sip of alcohol but it's been years! Smoke weed every day though ๐ค ๐2 points -

TDGN Community building ideas
Stu and one other reacted to TronRP for a topic
After I got the site working again, I mentioned that this version will no longer be supported in the near future as Invision is upgrading to version 5. We are currently on version 4 as it was the quickest way to get the forum back after we lost it the beginning of July to GoDaddy due to non access and the site being lock in their system account by Troy. My idea moving forward was to change things up a bit as this is basically my ballgame. In the past, there have been a lot of concern about adding a chat feature to the site due to how quick people can get into heated discussions, but I was wondering, since there are already Discords out there for DGN groups, wouldn't that be a place for that type of interaction in conjunction to access to the forum. Of course, if someone accesses it through this site, they would have to enter as a legitimate member. My other thought was to have store links added to the forum since the hosting site actually offers SSL certification. Members with items to sell would be able to link their store through the main forum front page that will be available to public traffic. They would also have the option of members only sales which would only be accessibly in the members section of the site. Also, having the SSL certification will allow for the public version of the forum to host links of outside seller sites which would also create seller/buyer hub traffic. The Invision software package allows for "Clubs" inside the forum. The Club creator would take on the roll of MOD to the Club they create with permissions bestowed by admin. That would be another way to have more streamline discussions among like minded individuals while still being within the forum community as a whole. Essentially, I was thinking of being the main presence of the new version of the forum. Prior to COVID, I would plan personal outings to visit as many offsite members as I could reach, just to say "Hi". It was actually fun. The furthest we made it, however, was Adrian, Michigan to visit Class-Punk. Others were around the Metro-Detroit area. Before things were shut down, we were planning a trip to Toledo, Ohio to visit sekhmet2002. Drive-wise, we made it up to Holly, Michigan for the Michigan Renaissance Festival. Later, I had read where a few ideas were being tossed around about having a DGN day at Ren-Fest. I would still be open to something like that if people were interested in going. There was also a post about Walk Around Detroit nights/events where you get dressed up and just hit the entertainment strip...was my understanding. That definitely sounded like fun as that was already something I did on my own...lol. Lastly, I was thinking about hosting/organizing various types of "Get Out & Mingle" events/outings like hired DJ venue events, Karaoke outings, Lounge meet ups and free location hangouts like Belle Isle, parks and other spaces open to the public. Since things are getting shaken up anyway, I figure why not go all out. I'm currently using a website building tutorial, that came with the site security account, to learn how to add dimensions to the community forum to enhance user experiences. If I get this right, TDGN might share some Facebook-like qualities and more. I didn't want to limit the site to only being a message board. I'm thinking more along the lines of an interactive virtual community forum with a real world presence. ~~~~~ Therefore: New forum layout New software upgrades New platform for public and member additions Varying in-person interactions Redefined internet footprint Although, this is my vision of things, they are not set in stone. Ok, so, thoughts?2 points -

~~~~~ Their birth mother is very petite and, when they were little, they were like little Tamarins when we would run around and play. Me, being from the generation of a certain era, I nicknamed them "Little Monchichis" (official JPN spelling "Monchhichi"). However, as they started to get taller, "Little" fell off and they've been "Monchichis ever since.2 points -
Building Relationships/Community - My Last Interaction with Troy
kat and one other reacted to The1andonlyMEG for a topic
Iโve thought about this post for a while now. I canโt even begin to remember the last time I talked to him. But it was probably some super in depth discussion about BSG. We had those often. That being said, there is no doubt the shaping of my life by this board - the absolute phenomenal 20 year friendships I have, solid memories and the lessonโs learned. Without this safe space I would not have made it my first year in Michigan. I would not have made it post bullshit. I probably would not have made it through nursing school. Many of the close friendships made here still surround my holiday tables. They still involve late night conversations, bad movies, decent cocktails, love my children like their own, and are some of the most loving and supportive people I have the pleasure of having in my inter circle. Community is not the word- family is. There is a need for safe spaces like this more than ever. Thank you for keeping it up and running. Itโs good to know itโs still here to look back on.. and for others that may presently need it, as a safe haven.2 points -
Let me know if you need any help or have any questions. There's a ton of how to videos and stuff, too, if that helps. Like this one should be pretty good for this - I didn't watch the whole thing, but seems pretty straight forward. Really the only major difference is how you install programs. In Windows, you simply click a few buttons and it's installed. In Linux, you need actually copy & paste commands into your terminal (think "command prompt" in Windows). So for instance let's say you want to install Brave Browser onto your Linux pc. You would go to Brave's website and navigate to the "Downloads" and look for Linux. Instead of actually downloading an .exe file that you then run to install it, it gives you the actual command you enter in your terminal window, to download & install the app. ^^^ As you can see it gives you the exact commands you need to install depending on your specific version of Linux. This is basically the hardest part of Linux. This and a few other commands that will help along the way, are important to learn, but overall Linux has come a *very* long way from the old days.1 point -
~~~~~ Thank you for that. I've always heard people talk about using Linux, but I never new how that worked or even what exactly it meant, so I never really discussed it. However, dealing with the software needed to run the VPS I had for a minute, a lot of things are making more sense to me now. This will definitely be explored.1 point -

What in the World happened. Made some time for myself to have some fun on Saturday. Sunday froze everything and services went wonky as the Wind caused outages and a weather disaster in the fur baby zone. Spent most of Monday trying not to freeze to death while repairing a roofing cover on the Hutch. The rest of the Shelter Zone is hit, but it will have to wait until the World thaws out. All the damage is literally frozen in place. ๐คทโโ๏ธ1 point -

What's CC even like these days? I think last I heard they had moved away from the Goth scene completely and were playing hiphop and dubstep type stuff. I don't even remember exactly when the last time I was there but I am pretty sure it was a NYE maybe around 2010-2012 and at that point the scene had already diminished quite a bit. As probably the only person to regularly drive 243 miles one way, just to go to CC on a Saturday night, I will say, I miss those days. I used to stay up all night Friday night playing video games and go to bed around 8 am on Saturday so I could wake up by 4 o'clock central time and drive to Detroit and be there by 10pm eastern time. I got drunk AF until last call, stayed until the ugly lights came on, and then sobered up with Crank and Rambo at Lucy & Ethel's and drove 243 miles back home to go to bed ๐คฃ๐คท Even stayed at Scary Guy's house a few times and that was even cooler! Man I miss those days. I miss Detroit in general, too. Very unique city out of all the major cities I've been to. Probably some of the most welcoming, hospitable people I've ever met in one city, as well. I'll never forget one of the Halloween parties my friend and I went to after CC for some fun and absinthe in the basement, and we were too tired/trashed to make the drive back home so we slept in my car on the street. One of the neighbors actually came out and offered to make us coffee and breakfast. Dude didn't know us from Adam - just knew we were there from the previous night's party. Cool ass people, man. Edit to add - also, now that I think about it, when people used to ask me why I drove so far every weekend just to go to a club, I didn't have a good answer. But looking back, there really was not a place even on par with Detroit (area) as far as a Goth scene goes, in 800 miles in any direction. Chicago was literally a stone's throw away but they did not have any goth clubs worth visiting. Nothing even close. Back then, the only other places I knew of that had a comparable goth scene were Miami and NYC.1 point -

~~~~~ Our warehouse in Costa Mesa were mainly Hispanic workers. I don't know what the status of the employees were, but after trump took office and the Home Depot lots got raided, we lost that processing center. Before the close, orders would arrive within a 2 to 3 day window. Now I just use the "Home Delivery" option since stuff will take up to 5 days anyway and at least that's free shipping.1 point -
CBD pills
kat reacted to SlavicGoth for a topic
The past month and a half I have been dealing with new chronic back pain and the muscle relaxant pills the doctor gave me have been putting me to sleep at work and I've been so drowsy with them. Weed has helped a little but I can't just smoke weed all the time. So I decided to try some CBD pills I picked up this little bottle after a few questions in the store after a few days this week It has made a great noticeable difference on my back. I don't feel very much pain anymore as im moving around work running around from my workbench to the polishing wheels and so on. I think we should put more funding and research on using CBD for low level pain medication and not opium1 point -
