fallennon Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I know this is gross, but I was discussing this with a friend of mine... Do you like the way you smell? Not like nasty, not showered in three days BO, but like just had great sex, good workout, etc. sweat smell?
fallennon Posted February 3, 2005 Author Posted February 3, 2005 To elaborate on this, I like the way I smell after a good workout, a long day at work (dancing) or great sex. I like the way my ex smelled too. Is it a pheramones thing maybe????
Shade Everdark Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Entirely possible. I, however, cannot stand anyone's stink, most especially my own. Luckily, I am not very pheremone-tastic, so I don't gross myself out too often.
The_Dark Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I don't much care for my own smell, though people have said I smell good. I do on the other hand love the smell of my wife.
Brenda Starrr Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I smell good after sex. Or a workout. I'm not a "smelly bitch".
JaneDead Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 i generally can't smell my own smell. the only time i ever do is when maybe i wear a shirt and then put it on the bed then forget if it was clean or not and smell it to see if i want to fold it and put it away. then most times it smells like nothing at all to me and then i know i wore it. as far as "b.o." - it is gross to me. on anyone. i don't like a sweat smell ever. i like how people smell - as in their "own" smell on their skin and when i smell things that smell like someone i am always reminded of them and i like that. i pretty much know what everyone i know "smells" like. their own personal "smell". obviously that is a combination of laundry detergent, pefumes/colognes, if they smoke or not, etc. but if i have ever hugged someone or been around them enough to "smell" them- then that smell sticks in my mind. but i am weird about smells. i smell everything. i don't even really mean to- i just do it. i will even smell the inside of a glass before i use it. not all the time, but i do do it.
fallennon Posted February 3, 2005 Author Posted February 3, 2005 I also have a keen sense of smell and in my profession it drives me nuts. Try rubbing up on a construction worker after he's been working all day and trying to make it sexy...ugh. That's when I have to plug my nose and breathe through my mouth.
Nienna Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I personally hate my own BO, but I like the way I smell after a workout or sex. Ditto for most of the partners I've had. (there was one smelly guy.. ugh) I guess it's a difference between clean sweat and old, dirty sweat. you know? Ripe, no shower in awhile is gross, hard working body smell is sexy. I've been told that I have an issue with "body smell" by a friend. She said I was weird about it. I never thought that but ,maybe she's right! I even wash my cat if she stops smelling like dust and me.
lullaby1031 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Not like I'm one to run around and sniff people... but I have this thing to where if I didn't like a guys "natural" scent, I really wouldn't be interested.. It is true about the pheremones but I'm talking about the "natural" scent we all have day in and day out. You can smell it most near their neck area. When people walk past - and you get that little breeze - sometimes that scent smells familar too and drives you nutz cuz you can't remember where the hell you smelled that from before!
paradox Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 i dont normally mind my own smell (?) :ermm: my girlfriend in highschool back in the day said i smelled sweet. i guess she dug it.
SomeDanGuy Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 I'm not a smell-oriented person at all, so I'll pass on all body smells. My ex, however, said smell was a huuuge determinant of whether she was attracted to a guy. She also said she could definitely tell that my smell changed when I was getting aroused. So yeah, I think there is plenty of legitimacy to the pheromones theory. Related fact: we have a different type of sweat glands in our armpits and genital regions than the normal ones everywhere else on the body. So lullaby - maybe the neck area smells most because it's nearest the armpit?
TomCat Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Frequent showers & cologne people. that's all I gotta say. :whistling:
squee Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 i dont really know about a smell that i have, like normal day basis one, but even when i do shit like clean the house, or moving it out for that matter, my 'scent' doesnt smell as strong to me as other peoples. like my x's seemed to be much more potent. i agree with the whole 'theres a diff between old sweat and fresh sweat.' i remember a time when my x was attempting to work on his car and i went out to the garage to check on him(make sure his engine didnt land on top of him) and he was all greasy and dirty... it was really f-in hot. like vin disel (how ever you spell it) in that speedy car racing movie... i like guys who work hard
Onyx Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 I really hate most cologne on men and perfume on women. I read somewhere that someone who smells good to you (when not wearing any other scent) is usually a very compatible mate. heh -- "No, I can't go out with you. You just don't smell right for me". Sounds kinda gross and uncivilized, but I think that it has some basis in fact.

lullaby1031 Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 To respond to your question SomeDanGuy: Yea that plays a part too but the cologne also got me too
soothsayer Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 I can live with my bodies natural sent. I also love the scent of a woman, when she's clean, and has been sweating. I think it's the pharmones released during sexual encounters. I've told only one girlfreind this and she told me I was crazy but I couldn't get enough of her scent. :devil
lullaby1031 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Ok, I'm embarressed to admit this but hopefully I'm not the only chic who ran around sniffing AXE bottles - Jess smells good with that stuff :woot:
TomCat Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 *sniffs* I think I currently smell of stale ciggy smoke & booze...damn bars... :confused
Daniel Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 I've been told I smell good, but I really don't notice one way or the other.
Daevion Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I hate the smell of BO, nothing sexxy about it!! I've been in gyms that absolutely reek of BO, made me want to puke. People that go long periods of time without showering are nasty in my opinion. I'm all about showers and perfumes/colognes...these are gifts from the gods.
Guest MsMaldoror Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I like the freshly-showered smell myself--on me and on others. The smell of skin can be nice, but not if it is unwashed and sweaty. I'm very sensitive to b.o., and one of my co-workers makes me want to gag =( .

Gawd was it gross!!! A few dozen complaints later, he finally did something about it...guess he just discovered the shower or whatever.
