Does some inconsequential good thing happen to set the tone of your day, and you just know it's gonna be a FANFUCKINGTASTIC DAY?

Well yeah, that happened today. I'll now proceed to list the evidence of my good day- So far. I wasn't planning on going out tonight, but I might, just to extend this streak.

1. I had to go to the gas station. When I went in to pay there was this gorgeous guy wandering around looking for candy and junk food to buy- at 9:30 in the morning. I thought that was totally adorable, even if he was high, which seems likely. The only thing he'd decided on at that point was Laffy Taffy. I almost said something, Laffy Taffy being a personal favorite, but in person, I'm rather shy.

I went outside to pump gas and the guy stopped to TALK TO ME. For NO REASON AT ALL. There were cuter girls in the gas station, but he talked to ME. Just small talk about my car, which is a shitty jetta. He had walked to the station and was on his way out, so he really didn't have any reason to stop and say "hi" to someone except perhaps for to kick off her best day ever. God, what a gorgeous smile he had. I love boys. I just knew I was going to have an awesome day.

2. I went to teach my Saturday morning classes. Normally, the first day back after a semester break is a charlie foxtrot, but this time, all the kids showed up ON TIME, and with the exception of only one, they all had instruments. The baritone player forgot his mouthpiece, but by some lighting stroke of providence, I had brought my trombone mouthpiece in my pocket. I must've looked so professional when I just pulled that bad boy out of my pocket and said, "Go wash this out with soap and warm water, you can use it for today."

3. The kids are so smart this semester. This much progress in the first day with kids who've never even blown into a mouthpiece before is very, very promising. And the ones in the theory class are terrible at singing, but they tried, and they got BETTER. A LOT better for the first day. In teaching, I surpassed myself today, and I have the next 8 sessions to look forward to with these students.

4. Cingular's going to send me a replacement cell phone under warranty because my current one is being cranky- BUT, I figured out how to set it to normal instead of silent without a fully functioning interface. So even though I can't call contacts unless I have their numbers memorized, I can receive calls and voicemails. I'm not cut off from civilization completely.

5. I fixed our wireless network despite the crappy tech support I got last night. There is no greater feeling than to call one's ISP to cancel a service appointment because your non-compsci-major-ass did it yourself.

I know that's only 5 really awesome things that happened today to maybe set it apart a little, and they're rather mundane when you think about them, but like I said, it's the little things. And it's 2 PM. Sometimes I don't even wake up till after 2.

So in conclusion, a "thank you" to anonymous morning stoner with his laffy taffy. Sometimes that's all it takes.

Awesome.

My red fuck bag arrived today. And, I have half the $$$ I need to book my plane ticket to Detroit. As far as I'm concerned, my day is good.

Red fuck bag??

And yeah, it's kind of a reminder. I remember how good it always makes me feel when someone I don't know is open and conversational for no reason. I need to come out of my shell and spread the love like that, too.

Yeah, I hear my evil twin has been pissing off a lot of people on this board. I don't know what the hell her problem is. Our fairy godmother should up her valium.

I'll drink to good omens and good days. :-) Nice to hear it BF.

I had a good one too. Or more accurately.. Carla and I did. Except for the part where we almost got killed.

Lessee:

Two new tires on car so all the noise and vibration would go away. They did.

Spent a while in IKEA. Coolness.

Lunch and meandering in A2.

Came home and dove in the pool. And stuff. ;-)

Barbequed on my "new" grill... personally decorated by my daughters.

Snuggling and a movie.

sounds like a wonderful day!!

but... how'd you get killed, almost?

(I really wanna visit IKEA. one of my students and his mom gush about it)

I've been to IKEA in Montreal and Toronto. (Family in Montreal...)

Almost killed: Motorist on the side of the road decides to get back on the freeway in front of us. Problem: we're doing 75mph and he's barely moving before he merges into our lane. There was traffic in the lane next to us... it was damn close.
