Blackmail Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I prefer New Order to Joy Division. I prefer Love & Rockets to Bauhaus. Should I no longer show my face near City Club and gothic architecture? Or Are you with me on those two?
phee Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I actually agree on both counts sir..... What does that mean about us?
Blackmail Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 I actually agree on both counts sir.....What does that mean about us? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the goth crowd were upset with New Order when they started focusing on techno and left the Joy Division sound in the past. However since synthpop and ebm and industrial and goth are merged now, New Order is fashionable again in the 'scene'. I think Love and Rockets were alot more consistent and better songwriters by the 80's. 'Haunted When the Minutes Drag' has to be one of my favorite songs ever and 'I feel Speed' is excellent too. What does this say about us? We have good taste!

BrassFusion Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I like Radiohead better than ALL of those bands... so you're still gothier than me. And for some reason people let me hang around.

Head Wreck Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 radio head were good for the mid 90's, the stuff they did kid A onwards was just pretencious. muse on other hand, are pretencious without spoiling the music
BrassFusion Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I honestly don't see how their albums taken alone are pretentious. Maybe the attitude of the group, but I never see that reflected in music.

phee Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Then there was Dark Doom person and the Izods of Darkness.... they were like.... SOOOOO GOTH
Blackmail Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 What about Moev? Still like 'em but think they were very underrated. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Moev were fucking AWESOME. but what do they have to do with bauhaus, joy division or their spinoffS? thanks for reminding me of Moev, they toured with Xymox. I really liked that song 'the sadistic years'.
Anathema Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 I actually really liked bothed bands back in the day. However, I have always been more partcial to Bauhaus. If you look through my record collection (and yes, i DO mean actual records) I have quite a few from both bands. Wow, it's been so long I'd almost forgotten about Love and Rockets.
Anathema Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 I think Moev were fucking AWESOME. thanks for reminding me of Moev, they toured with Xymox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh wow! Moev was fucking great! I would give my left arm to see both them and Xymox together. That must have been one hell of a show!!!

I really liked that song 'the sadistic years'. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now I see where you're getting at - you mean the above bands and their respective spinoffs. Didn't even notice at first. Interesting that their offshoot bands each veered towards a more synth-driven sound. First I thought you meant the dark synth stuff of that era vs. the less synthy dark stuff. Like all of those bands mentioned above. Remember, Tones On Tail were also a Bauhaus offshoot and actually more "dancey" then Love And Rockets(who actually grew out of TOT).
mallochai Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Tones on Tail was pretty sweet <{POST_SNAPBACK}> exactly. I prefer tones on tail to bauhaus, bauhaus to love and rockets. I also prefer joy division to new order, but new order to the the.
djbradd Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 exactly. I prefer tones on tail to bauhaus, bauhaus to love and rockets. I also prefer joy division to new order, but new order to the the. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll be honest - I'm actually not a very big fan of Joy Division at all. They've definitely got some great songs but its the rare point that I play Joy Division at the club. They tend to be too slow for the normal mood I'm in. Tips help though hahahaha.
