Actually, I know NOTHING about Tori Amos, and I don't want to because I don't like her music...but it has nothing to do with feminism. I like feminism...it's just I've a rotten way of expressing it. Oh but that's consistant with everything for me.

which part do you have a problem with the fact that she was raped or the fact that i like her. . .

I was pretty sure you didn't mean it the way I read it, but basically you implied that you sorta like her despite the fact she's been sexually assaulted. That statement would neccesary come with the assumption that rape devalues a woman.

As I said, I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, but back in the day (yeah, I'm old) that was a pretty common opinion. Even further back in time, rape was considered a property crime against the father and/or husband of the woman.

not quite what i meant. i was more refering to the fact that many of her songs make her seem as tho shes not fond of men but i dont think its that she hates them just that shes had bad experiences with them (like beeing raped). the fact that i like her has no corelation with that tho, i just enjoy her music and her presence is unbelievable and energetic.

I remember "Y Can't Tori Read?"

And for the record, I love her music. She has a raw sexuality that hits you like a ton of bricks. She's a fierce, fabulous redhead with a rebellious streak and a lot of talent.

Brenda is a wonderful woman, I guess I was wrong.

Sorry. I had to edit that or get in trouble with my peers for starting an argument.

And I still like Tori Amos.

Fine, I've edited mine too.

She is another example of a male hating vengence finatic. Man, I think she may be worst than Alanis but I know they don't tour together. She also blaims everything on her father. I ain't no hardcore religous person but the song "God" was the most sacreligious song I ever heard. This is coming from Black Metal, Slayer fan.

:devil She's from Uranuslol

Look if you like Tori, fine. I'm not trying put anyone down who likes her - sorry if it sounds like it - or trying to to stop people from listening to her. Yes, she is very talented and one of the very best pianist. But I just do not like or agree with some of her messages with her music or some of the articles I have read. It sometimes makes me feel shameful to be a male reading some her articles or listening to her music.

understanding is half the battle. if you know why she does what she does than you can accept it for what it is. =)

true but rape can mess a woman up, and it doesnt take very much to do that, especially if the ones doing it are men you thought you could trust. :erm

For some reason, "She's Your Cocaine" always makes me really horny. I've never really payed attention to the words so I don't even know what that song is about, but the music just turns me on.

I love Tori Amos..... Anyone who can cover Slayer that stylishly is good in my book

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I like her now too. :cool

Okey maybe I shouldn't be so harsh on her. Like I said earlier there is some stuff in articles that I kind of disagree with. I won't be too harsh any more.

Thankyou sir... and check out the slayer cover.... it is sweet

I like Tori, Alaniss, Sarah and Fiona.

Great voices.

I am a picky choosy song person.....I can say I like at least 1 song from one or the other.

I'm sorry guys but I still can't listen to her. Or Slayer for that matter. She's not a even a good piano player to me. Has nothing to do w/ her politics...if she is a feminist, I wouldn't have guessed.

Yeah... no good Paino is Slayer at all

The way she abuses her French Double makes me whince. Then again, everytime I see a pianist play a harsichord I whince.

I got compared to Tori Amos last night. It was meant as a compliment. So I'm happy.

I'm a fan of Tori as well; having seen her live half a dozen times from the early days on through about early 2002 or so when she kinda fell out of favor with me. I still listen to her music from time to time but it's always makes me feel sad and depressed. Shes so powerful and personal in her lyrics that the sensation of the pain that drew her to write that seems to resonate with me. Of course a good frind of mine, and my frst love, and I use to listen to her all the time so It might be that subconcious kick in the balls I'm feeling. Anyway I got the new CD "Wheres neil Gaimen when you need him" and Tori has a song on their called caroline thats very classic Tori and its great.
