Now a days there seems to be more and more female singers that front for metal bands. I find it very attractive when I see a female that toward the heavy metal side. It makes look and sound tuff and it brings out their female gender, to me.

A few of the bands like Arch Enemy, Otep, Kittie, Lacona Coil, and many more I am sure.

I always wonder why it always seems that women are singers...and not very often instrumentalists?

Females tend to have better voices than their male counter parts. I prefer a female singer over a male.

Lacuna Coil

Mephisto Waltz

Theatre of Tragedy (older)

Leaves Eyes

Siouxsie and the Banshees

Have some good female singers.

Rachel May from Detroit's Broadzilla is mighty good.

Walls of Jericho is the newest popular death metal band.

hehe Walls of Jericho has been around for about ten years. I used to see them at Pharoh's and The Misquito club. They are a staple of the Detroit hardcore scene

I love female led gothy rock. The Birthday Massacre (thank you Farril for getting me into them, Luxt, Lullacry. and of course those already mentioned,Lacuna Coil, Snake River Consipracy, etc

If you want some balls out metal like Otep check out Crisis and In This Moment. both are GREAT female led metal. Fall prey is a local led fmeale metal group as well as Bullets Over broadway (five girls, HEAVY AS ALL HELL)

The Spookshow from Belgium does some great horror punk and Mad Marge and The Stoncutters are one of my fav psychobilly bands also female led.

the one thing I have found with female led bands whiel working in the music scene thus far is that they have to work much harder to gain respect, not fans. just the respect of said fans.

I'd have to agree. I love a good strong feamale lead singer in a harder band, Gen from genitourtures being my current absolute favoirte. However I think they shin even more in EBM groups like ego likeness as the female voice really brings more emotion to the music and I think blends better with the more "poppy" sound of EBM.

they are out there (female instrumentalists) but the scene is jsut male dominated. Personally, I think the girls play choicer licks and have cleaner technique.....
