Marblez Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 We are doing a monthly theme night at the place where I host karaoke. There is a suggestion amongst the Red Apple regulars of making Brenda's visit night "Goth Night". This would mean not only DGN'ers, but regulars (read: "normals") dressing up all goth-like for the evening. What do you think? Interesting? Offensive? Comical?

Heh, that's cute. would raise "goth awareness" or whatevthefuck.
jadnifer Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 I think that would be interesting.....when and where is this? cover charge? time?
slingerlandstyx Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 It's DEFINITELY comical to see what some norms think it is to dress goth and then see them try to dress that way themselves.
Guest Game of Chance Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Would it actually be goth karaoke? Or are we going to see some sorority girls in heavy eyeliner singin Shakira?
Brenda Starrr Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 That's cool, but I most likely won't be gothed out that night. I'm actually more rockabilly. Just look for the red hair and the furry leaopard-print mary janes.
Steven Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 havent worn eyeliner in many years but hey why not.....
Guest Game of Chance Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I like the idea of just having goth songs available to sing. Who cares about what the people are wearing? But, its not my Karaoke gig...
Guest Game of Chance Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 P.S. - Can I sing She's in Parties or St. Vitus Dance, pretty please??? I'll even settle for Bela Lugosi's Dead.
Marblez Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 How about "Freaky Friday" inclusive of all alternative subcultures - Goth, Punk, Rockabilly, etc?
Brenda Starrr Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 How about "Freaky Friday" inclusive of all alternative subcultures - Goth, Punk, Rockabilly, etc? I like it!!
Guest Game of Chance Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 That would be cool. I'd show up for that.
slingerlandstyx Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Definitely, if I can ever get a friday or saturday off.
jadnifer Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Can someone give me a time, place, cover charge, price of drinks, info please. Oh, and please exact directions or the address and I can get them myself. If i dont have those, I would be on my way and never make it because I would get lost trying to get there. I am very geographically challenged!!

I am very geographically challenged!! If you're wanting to go on the 29th when brenda is here, I could probably give you a lift. You're on my side of town if I remember correctly. I'll have to get directions again myself, but it shouldn't be a problem. It started at 9ish last time, no cover, and drink prices were decent.

I should have my car by then though. If I dont or something else comes up, I just may take you up on that offer.
Brenda Starrr Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I think everyone should look sort of freaky and sing songs by Olivia newton John. I think I'd piss myself....
jadnifer Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I think everyone should look sort of freaky and sing songs by Olivia newton John. I think I'd piss myself.... That would be funny. Want to sing an Olivia song with me, Brenda?
Msterbeau Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 If you can dial up the reverb I'll do The Cramps "Surfin Bird". Or something with a deep voice and no vocal range whatsoever. Maybe Sisters of Mercy... Heh.. In any case...they'll all sound like shit and everyone will run and hide.

Brenda Starrr Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 That would be funny. Want to sing an Olivia song with me, Brenda? LOL I think it would be a riot: Black lipstick, excessive black eyeliner, lots of PVC. "Have You Never Been Mellow."
Marblez Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 The theme is official. I got it passed by the powers that be. Also, keep adding in here any and all names and artists of songs that you want to have available. I am buying some new and will make sure that I cover as many favorites as possible.
Homicidalheathen Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I would go for sure. I think this is a good idea and it will go over quite well. Will get back with you on a list of songs I would want to hear/sing..many from the 80's no doubt.
