sass_in_the_pants Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 So, I finally broke down and bought one of those little devices that I am certain will end up in my washing machine. They are called mp3 players. Perhaps you've heard of them. What you can do with these, apparently, is download your music from your CDs (or that interweb thingy) and take all of your favorite songs with you. Okey-dokey. I think I can handle that. So, I went to my CD rack, which is very dusty, because I don't have a CD player, and it was full of wonderful surprises that I had forgotten all about. There was some Sister Machine Gun, and some Wumpscut, and some L7 and Faster Pussycat and Deftones and TKK and EVEN Detroit Electronic Coalition Volume 2. I thought for a moment that I was very, very cool. And then I moved my dresser. And there it was. Just staring at me. Like a scarlet A. Or the tracks of a heroin addict. It was an Enya CD. Holy fuck, how did I end up with an Enya CD? Even Yanni would have been cooler. John Tesh. Kathy Lee Gifford sings your favorite Christmas songs. ANYTHING but Enya. Now, now, I know that SOMEONE out there is going to tell me that Enya is brilliant, effing BRILLIANT, and they just LOOOOOVEE Enya, and that her music touched their soul, no, not JUST their soul, the wriggling slimy INSIDES of their soul. Their soul's soul. Or she cured erectile disfunction. Or puberty. And I say, you go on loving Enya. Sing it from the mountain tops, I don't care. She still has no business under my dresser. So, over some delicious and tasty chicken alfredo with friends I said "I own an Enya CD". It went over as well as, I would imagine, saying something like "I have the plague." or "Kathy Lee Gifford gives good head." Yeah, it was like that. After a painful silence, Scott spoke up first. 'So do I'. He said it with shame in his eyes, but it was an honest shame. Then Flo. Then DK. And then, EVERYONE ELSE. Six out of six owned an Enya CD. Six out of six people. All with the same shameful secret. The weird part is that no one really knows how they GOT an Enya CD. No one remembers purchasing one, or finding one on their porch, or anything like that. We all just happen to have them. While we're at it, I will confess my other dirty little secret. I just completed my first online music purchase. It's Britney Spears- Toxic. I freaking LOVE that song. And I will sing THAT from the mountain tops. So, there's mine. What's yours? What's the song you have that you have no business having and what's the song you love, love, love that no one would really believe?

I was very upset when my Backstreet Boys CD was ruined! I also listen to NSYNC and I also listen to some rap. I always wished that I had a Will Smith CD. Never got around to getting one though.
Mikielikesit Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Ok heres mine.....ABBA and Kris Kristofferson(country).....Oh yeah and BEE GEE's I am so ashamed
BrassFusion Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 ABBA's all right. Britney Spears, however, is not.
saechalyn Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Heh heh heh...well I am not going to rush out and buy his albums but... Lord help me I like Justin Timberlake. I think he's hot too THERE I SAID IT.
JaneDead Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 i don't own an enya cd but i do own an enya tape and i have 2 of her songs on my computer which i still like. i like toxic too by brittney spears and bought it off of i-tunes. but i still think christina agulara- i have no idea how to spell her name- is a way better singer and her current stuff is not that bad though i don't own any of it. i, too, like justin timberlake. i am not sure why. but i do. i'm not terribly ashamed of any of the music i like or own but i try to be respectful and not play it for people i know will hate it. like my jesus christ superstar, sir mix-a-lot, old school rap (though i do have friends that like it, i know many that just don't and never have), def leppard and much much much more. i know i like stuff that people don't like. and i know i like stuff that really might not be that good. but i like that i like what i like. oO
Scary Guy Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 YOU ARE SO GOTH I know, isn't it horrible

Scary Guy Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 OK what's wrong with Enya? I mean seriously? I rank them up there around where Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Delerium, Enigma, Faith and the Muse, and Loreena McKennitt are.
creatureofthenyte Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I don't own an Enya cd, but hey it could have been worse, it could have been polka disco dancing with Eeeyore!

Rayne Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Okay, okay ... I own a few Celine Dion cd's, a Britney Spears cd, a Backstreet Boys cd ... I own some rap ... a few Eminem cd's and all the Kid Rock cd's ... I own some Marilyn Manson ... and yes ... even a couple Ace of Base cd's. ....
