I'm with Headwreck on this. Decent curries and decent pints are all I really need. Glasgow is pretty...if you're a Detroiter. Edinburgh is beautiful regardless. And London has a nice texture. Wales is pretty...when the fog is thin enough that you can see it. And Ulster has violent conflict, which is exciting to me.

O_o Holland is IN the Netherlands...

And Crank, have you been to any of those places? Especially Thailand? I wonder if you would really like it there.

If I had to consign myself to living in one nation forever and ever for the rest of my life, it would be the states, because I haven't lived anywhere else for an extended period of time and our personal freedoms are better than you'd find in a lot of other countries. I bet any other country you chose would have some nasty surprises to offer if you weren't expecting them. A couple candidates for permanent relocation though would be australia, canada, or maybe italy.

^But they don't call it the Netherlands where HW is from, they call it Holland. Of course in in Dutch, it's Nederlands, which would make us all wrong.

And Tokyo is the capital of Japan. I don't CARE what the slopes call it, kay? WE call it Japan. Cuz they're Japs.

All these other countries are great, but of course, living in the United States, if you lose your wallet, all you have to do is find a police officer...chances are they're the one who's taken it from you.

Okay, I stole that from a book.

=/ I guess I'd assume that police in other parts of the world are as at least as corrupt as the ones here, if not more so.

i dont like amsterdam tbh. iyts pretty, and cheap to get there (silly low amount to fly over there from here, so much so people tend to do it every so often just for a pissup) but its pollocies on controlled substances bring in other issues. the rest of europes drug abuse and criminals.

between the junkies going over for legal pot (as long as its confined to liscenced "coffee shops") mafia diamond smugglers and human trafficers (slavers) its got a very dark underside.

france. yes i could live there but like in the states people need to learn manners (actually its worse than the states), but the countryside and way of life is much more accomidating. if a little flat in areas.

new zeland, same mild climate as us, friendly people, and a booming tourist industry, yes there would be my choice if it isnt in a better paid part of rural wales.

and as for mist PH. yes it can be so thick you cant see your hand on front of your face but that clears as quick as it comes (disturbingly quick, so many people end up walking off cliffs as they doint have the common sesse to sit out the mist on the mountains)

the only other country I've spent any limited time in is Mexico, so I'm ill prepared to give a realistic opinion but here is where I'd love to stay for short periods of time, say ....4 or 5 months before moving on...

Spain - right at the border of Italy where the basques are. My family traces backward to there.

Ireland - I have always wanted to be there

Greece

China

Japan

Ummm.... I have noticed a lot of Amsterdam here.... how many people on this board have actually been to Amsterdam? and how many people are only talking about it based on reputation?

(I didn't realize so many people on DGN were into.... um.... self medicating)

After reading Head wrecks comment, I would not live there. But would visit more than once!

Everything I read about it's people lead me to believe I'd be fairly happy amongst them. There are all kinds of cool places to explore. It's a very green society. (The place pretty much runs off of geothermal energy that's damne near infinitely sustainable.) Reality may be different then I've been led to believe... I'd certainly like a chance to find out.

New Zealand would be cool too.

United Arab Emirates.

They built a SKI SLOPE IN THE DESERT.

Sah-weet!

I'd probably work three jobs just to live in a hole, but it would be cool to see the place.

Europe's fun, but I already lived there. Eh. I could take it or leave it.
