I hate candy that looks like good candy and you're fooled till you put it in your mouth. They had these things in a bowl at Trixie's that looked like peppermints but I tried one and it was anise (same flavor as black licorice).

Worst part was, there was no where in the immediate vicinity to spit it out. I ran around like an idjit for a few minutes before I found the trash can.

A friend of mine owns a candy store and he sells this stuff called Salt Money Candy. It has the texture of leather, the flavor of dirt and old people come in the store and buy it by the pound. He tells them that nowadays we make candy that actually tastes good, but they don't believe him.

Ditto on anything black licorice (anise) and circus peanuts. That includes snaps, and those colorful, soft drop candies that look delicious, then have a rude surprise if you eat them.

Add to the list those horrible giant jelly-bean shaped "eggs" you get at Easter that have the colored outside, and inside is some horrible, hard "cream".

Also:

BAD jelly beans, especially the type which you can't tell which color is which flavor, so you end up eating a purple that tastes like BLACK LICORICE.

Cheap chocolate

Those damn Asians tricked me once into eating their crappy candy, too!!!

There was a package and I think it had anime fruit on it or something and smiling happy Japanese children, so I assumed it had to be good and I was very, very, very unhappy. Blech! No wonder they have a high suicide rate.

My friend who owns the candy store goes to the candy convention every year in Chicago and we sit around and say "Eat that!" "No, you!" "I dare you!" "It tastes like burnt hair!"

He brought back this one thing...it was like...sweetener for your fruit. Because of course fruit isn't, y'know, um, sweet. Imagine what an apple would taste like with Mrs. Dash on it. Blech!

I had a friend who went to those conventions all the time too... frat sister, actually (co-ed).

They always unloaded the toxic shit on ME and kept the good stuff for themselves. Ever try "spray candy?" It's like candy but in liquid form and you spray it on your tongue. They engineered it that way so you can't scrape the horrific taste off. It's there until you counteract it with liquor.
