What's wrong with it? I'm the Toilet Genie, y'know.

We had that problem.

Opened up the tank and greased up the rod that runs from the flushing handle to the mechanisms.

Run gone.

'Course this toilet dates back to the 70's. Yours might be different.

No, my toilet is old too...

It shouldn't cost me more than $10 to fix it though. Just the headache that's associated with it. Plus it feels like I'm bleeding money... :doh

No, seriously. I love fixing toilets. Especially when you get it done with shit you just had lying around (pun intended).

shut the valve off until you need to use it, to cut down your water bill...

Call this dude he might be able to help out,Just joking.

Other than that your better off getting one of those newer ones that

use less water.

LOL...thanks for the well-wishes, but its really not that bad. I have to jiggle the handle a bit, but once I replace some of the old rubber, that sucker will be running just fine.

Well, not running...

Ah, welcome to home ownership. I did a complete overhaul on one of my toilets; took me about 2 hours to completely redo all of the internals. Luckily, the new parts I put in it have adjustable flush control, so I basically converted it to a low-flow toilet in the process. =)

Dude, all ya gotta do is lift up the lid, and take the floating ball attached to the stick, if it's metal, you can bend the ball down a bit, if the stick is plastic, warm it up first before trying to warp it. That will pull the stop/plug lever harder when the water level rises and close it more effectively.

But that might not be the problem, if it still runs, then it's possibly the plug that drains the water into the actual bowl when you flush, that might be getting worn out. If that's the case, find some way to prop the floating ball up so the water dont drain, take the plug peice to a Gill Roy's. They'll have what you need at a fairly cheap price too. Goodluck

The second suggestion is in fact, the case. Its just an old piece of rubber (the plug) needs replacin'.

Its working for now, and its on my ever-growing list.

Thanks.

Eh, I know a old friend of mine who had that problem for the longest time. Plus the rubber peice was broke as well so therefor it kept running no matter whut, lol he stuck a rubber ball in for the time being. That wasnt the only problem, most of the time his toilet kept spitting out of whut was flushed earlier. It was sick, everytime I spent the night over at his place, I went to the neighbors just to use the bathroom.
