maeve Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Here's a Cento that I put together a while ago. For those who may not know...a Cento is a poem created strictly from other peoples' poems. You take a line or two out of many different poems and arange them to create a new poem. A Cento Some nights I sleep with my dress on In the garden of waters a spirit of stone. The cool October night Somewhere west of the back volcanoes. I’ve seen people die of money. Where the hell do these people come from? Their fathers were surgeons and vice-presidents. Their mothers were psychologists and counselors. had I known how to play them had I known how to let them play me A clock stitched from will, chronologs which hours to kill and take from seventy springs a score, it only leaves me fifty more. But you are inside your breathing now as you were taught. Their faces twitch turn red as stutterers. The astounded soul hangs for a moment bodiless and simple she pins her sleeve to the dead my sleeve soaked by the automatic spray God, I have been looking for you
maeve Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 Neat! Thanks. I have other stuff that is actually my own writing and plan to post some of it probably soon. I'm still getting used to the forum right now and I'm sure it'll take a bit before I'm comfortable with how it all works. Anyway, I read your post about your daughter's story and really loved it. Kids are great, they come up with some amazing stuff sometimes.
