I was in my teens I think, I picked it up with the stick actually and flung it. It was in the park.

place it in a cardboard "longboat" with twigs and cremate it viking style

I see dead squirrel's all the time. Maybe Detroit isn't far enough north to get them in the numbers I am used to seeing.

When I was younger, every summer when we would open our pool we would find a few dead squirrels on the bottom. One time we found a pregnant squirrel floating with it's belly rotted open.. nasty!

Depends on where I am/or rather where the squirrel is. If it's in my yard i'll scoop it with ashovel and throw it in the bushes. Anywhere else I would leve it.

Don't touch it! You don't know where that thing has been!

"boil it down to bare bones for scientific anatomical study"

This whole poll was pretty much in jest, JIK anyone wondered...

And that particular entry was inspired by what I know of Beatrix Potter of Peter Rabbit fame. She used ot boil down all her dead pets to be able to use their skeletons as reference for her drawing.Eeeeeek.gif

beatrix potter drank too much herbal tea. lot what it does to you mere mortals sanity.

Hmmm.....

Maybe once my ex husband moves into a new place, a dead squirrel would be a lovely housewarming gift. Of course, I'd have it holding a patchouli candle. It's his favorite scent.

We spent a Christmas celebration at my sister's place one year. We were told to bring (wrapped) one "silly" gift to trade. We brought stuff like a bad vinyl album, this weird homemade earring hanger I made, etc. We all traded, not knowing what we were getting.

Turns out, it was all a ruse to pass on this taxidermy squirrel they'd gotten in a similar bit of fun previously. My sister Sue got it and "accidentally" left it behind when we left for home.

Depends, if the squirrel looks like it could still be alive I think up a way to check and then grab my cell to call the local animal shelter if it is. Otherwise, that means it got run over or attacked and nasty bloody, I get misty eyed cause lil animals shouldn't die. I'd be sad if the squirrel that my grandma likes to feed died, he's cool and wanders right up to you for peanuts. I'm such a sap.

I am a firm believe in the idea that if you encounter anything dead at any time, this includes older relatives, you should definately poke it with a stick.
