Homicidalheathen Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I am posting because a few of you know what I went through last week, it was a bit scary. Almost had to get admitted again. :peanutbutterjellytime Everything is working as it should.....for now. This is the only place where I feel I can talk about this and anyone will even care. Its that spot I feel they missed, the right 'elbow'. I hope I don't have to ever wear a bag again...I am not sure I want to. I know what your thinking....that being alive is better than not, no matter what.....I am not so sure. I had to give up allot during that time, including sex. I just don't want to go there again...no more surgery.....I am sick of it. Really, I know I am tough.....but I have had enough already. And the pain gets so bad I just want it to stop.....I don't care how. So thats it. Now you know. I am pooping again, heehee! Life is good. See why I want to be a dog or horse? They never get intestinal blockages....and yes, I am jelous of the way they poo so easily.....and so much. I want to be a big german sheppard in my next life......oh the poo's I will do.

I'm glad you're OK sweetie... I didn't know you were having problems last week but I know your ongoing plumbing issues have a major impact on your quality of life. So I'm very happy things are functioning OK again. And... I would never say "being alive is better than not no matter what"... my own health issues and my auntie's final illness have led me to do a lot of thinking about that. I can think of a lot of bodily situations where life would not be worth living for me. But then I prolly have different ideas than most folks about life & death in general. & BTW horses are indeed prone to intestinal blockages... they are actually pretty delicate critters, health-wise. I used to read a lot of veterinarian autobios, and they're all full of stories about "colicky" horses & the various measures needed to relieve the poor beasts. :peanutbutterjellytime (pretend these are brown instead of yellow & white)
Homicidalheathen Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 Wow, that is interesting.....considering all the fiber they eat. I find it amazing how diverse nature is.....this huge animal with all this muscle and they don't eat ANY meat. They get all that protien from grains and grass......just amazing.

As I recall, part of the problem is horses aren't ruminants (ruminant= multiple stomachs w/different functions like a cow or other cud-chewing critters) so their digestive system is not really optimized for dealing w/the huge amounts of plant matter it takes to get enough protein & whatnot. Also, in nature, since horses are grazers they are constantly moving while eating. Domesticated horses may do some grazing, but get most of their calories while standing still at a trough or whatever. The idea is that physical activity is needed for proper digestion... same w/humans, inactive people tend to have more problems w/constipation. Hehe, guess they don't call 'em bowel MOVEMENTS for nothing! :peanutbutterjellytime
