Brenda Starrr Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I'm not talking pain-in-the ass falsies. I'm talking the kind you glue onto your lashes, just like extensions. I've had mine on for a week, and haven't lost one yet. You can't use an oily eye makeup remover on them or rub them vigorously, though. But they last. Mine are by Ardell, and the whole kit cost a whopping $11.00.
kellygrrrrrl Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I had some done professionally way back when, and man, the glue fumes stung my eyes so badly that when she was done, they one eye looked really good, but the other one, they were all crooked, and some were pointing in strange directions....I looked like I had a weirdo eye... arg! Maybe if I do them myself??? hmmmm......
Brenda Starrr Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 With my allergies, fumes are an issue. These don't have that problem.
Vampyro Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 god if you saw my me face to face with my real eyelashes, you'd all be jealous... then when you hear how badly i treat them and how they still look... you'd kill me and have my eyelashes surgically transplanted onto you...
Brenda Starrr Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 You may be right. I may have to pluck them from you.
Fierce Critter Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Men seem to often be blessed with the beautiful lashes, don't they? Christ, going by hair alone, Jon's more femme than I am. Anyhow, I am tempted to try these. But dispel a myth for me - I've been told that eyelashes don't grow back. I'd be worried that I'd have such difficulty putting them on, I'd screw up and end up ripping all my own lashes out. StraightDope, here I come... I wonder if I'd even be able to apply these. I have a HORRIBLE time with doing anything intricate to my eyes. If I go to a make-up artist, it's an exercise in futility for them to do anything to my eyes 'cause I blink and squint and tear-up uncontrollably. I have the same problem at the eye doctor. The only way I can put my own eyeliner on is to hold my lid closed by the lashes. No way I can apply make-up to an open eye.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 They do grow back. The so-called permanent loss of them is a myth, unless you have Alopecia. Then you're screwed. I shake. I shake BAD sometimes. It runs in my family, and I can do them! I swear, it's not hard.
Paper Hearts Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I usually don't notice eyelashes; you are making me paranoid.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 I usually don't notice eyelashes; you are making me paranoid. That's because of all that pot you smoke.
Paper Hearts Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 That's because of all that pot you smoke. I have not smoked grass in a long time. Perhaps if I started, it would relax me.
Brenda Starrr Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 You don't need that shit. But I'll be happy to glue eyelashes on you.

creatureofthenyte Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 why do people have to glue fake stuff on to their bodies ? I just don't get it. So some people have good eyelashes and some don't. I have good lashes and I dont do a damn thing to them. Is vanity really that important ? I try to take care of myself in the looks department, but in reality, if people cannot accept me as I am, mind and body, then those are the people I dont need to be around.
saechalyn Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I'm tempted. Though with my glasses they wouldn't be noticeable anyway.

I'm learning to do them on myself so that I can charge the big bucks to do them on clients in the salon. And what's wrong with a little extra fringe? Not an effen thing.
BrassFusion Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I don't need fake lashes for just casual regular every day or even club makeup, but if I ever go all-out balls-to-the-wall GLAM FUCKING ROCK, i can't be held responsible for what i might do in the name of vanity... that said... pictures???
Brenda Starrr Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 I'll post pics when I'm more awake!
Fierce Critter Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I don't think it's always a matter of vanity. I know I like to play with my appearance sometimes. Like I might start adding a wig here and there, and false eyelashes of any kind can be fun. That's not vanity, that's art. :D

I try to take care of myself in the looks department, but in reality, if people cannot accept me as I am, mind and body, then those are the people I dont need to be around. Sometimes it depends on the reasons they are doing it. I do know a few people who have such a poor self-image that they can be drop-dead gorgeous but see ugliness in the mirror and want to put on a bucketfull of makeup just to go to get the mail. I also know a few people who could look so much better if they would just bother to wear clothes that fit and pay at least some attention to their hairstyle. I won't be doing any eyelash stuff because I can't even tolerate mascara. I can sort of feel it on my lashes and I pick at it. I do love the way it looks, but it's not for me, doesn't mean I don't like it on others. I color my hair for ME because I love the way it looks. I'd be mousy brown and gray rather than vibrant red if I didn't. I wouldn't feel like me. I love fashion and makeup and arty looks. It's fun.
