Vater Araignee Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I have been smoking for 20 years and never truly tried to stop. Its been 4 days cold turky now and my sence of smell is improving and I dont like it. Every thing around me smells horrid! Did the world allways smell so bad? I can't even convince myself to start back smoking to cover up the smell 'cause everyone around me that smokes smells like the are exhailing clouds of dried piss. This sucks I feel like I need to jamb some rubber plugs up my nose and glue them in. Oh the horror. The horror
Lilith Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 i was just thinking and i came up with an idea to help, maybe control what you smell...... choose a sent you do like, perfume, herbs, candles etc....... see if you can find it in a liquid form and take a dab and rub it on the tip of yer nose, this way your nose smells the good scent for a bit and you get some relief from the nasty scents. other then that i dont know what to say other then...........WAY TO GO
Brenda Starrr Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I quit smoking as well, and I love it. I can smell and tast so many things! I can breathe!!
JaneDead Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 yeah i think the world has always smelled this awful vater at least it has to me wait until spring. it should get better. unless you hate the smells of spring...
gothicmom Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Light LOTS of candles to kill smells. You'll get used to smells, although I'm not sure what smells you are talking about.
Fierce Critter Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Yeah - clarify what smells are bothering you. My husband quit cold-turkey after smoking about 6 years. When in the presence of cigarette smoke or places where people smoke heavily and leave a lot of residue, it makes him really ill. He can't believe he ever smoked when he smells that now.
Head Wreck Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 cities smell. even small ones usually offend me on first wiff. i guers i'm to used to sea and forrest air

And yet I'm thinking what is better die in 20 years to cancer or spend every day of the next 30 years ill because the world stinks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Smoking stinks. I'm surprised that you think everything else stinks. I've always had people tell me that when they quit, they realised that smoking stinks.
gothicmom Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I don't have any experience in this, but I'm sure this will fade....or you'll get used to the new smells. 20 years of nonsmell is a VERY long time.
Vater Araignee Posted March 2, 2005 Author Posted March 2, 2005 I tried to take a hit this morning (the kids where pissing me off for no reason) and almost barfed. Oh did I mention I did not choose to stop smoking my body made the decision for me.
fallennon Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 When I quit smoking I also realized that the world stunk. Unfortunately, I started to smoke again. Couldn't handle the smell of everyone once I could smell them!
fallennon Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 something like that...it got so bad I couldn't even lay in bed next to my man at the time...
Daniel Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 "And yet I'm thinking what is better die in 20 years to cancer or spend every day of the next 30 years ill because the world stinks " Having witnessed the former, I can't recommend it. It isn't pleasant, and it is painful, and the last year of your life will be hell. Dealing with odors is seriously easier.
squee Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 dude i quit smoking and i hate every moment of it my boyfriend and i quit together beacuse he was sick of taking me to the hospital(i have athsma and chronic broncitus) and he feels f-in great and i still can't breathe. i try to smoke all the time but if i have a couple cigarettes in a day(like when i drink) i'll feel sick in the morning. i have a gross smell too, but i think it's stuck in my nose...
fallennon Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I also have asthma...squee have you looked into Advair? I know this is a different topic, but it seems to help me a lot and I am a heavy smoker.
