Fierce Critter Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I sheepishly admit I'm following it this year. Loosely, yet still keeping tabs. There are a couple guys who have made it to the final 10 who are atypical in that they come from rock band backgrounds - Bo and Constantine. I don't care all that much for Constantine, but Bo is damned good. Charismatic & so unlike the pop clones that you usually hear coming from that show, it's made it interesting for me to follow. Couldn't give a rat's ass about the women - they're all very typical. I hope this Bo guy gets the final prize. Be interesting to see if a more rock, less pop stylist can actually achieve the "idol" status the previous winners haven't as far as record sales & prestige. I know Clay Aiken has done pretty well (living 30 miles south of his hometown, Raleigh, you can't escape the guy), but I don't see him being in the news in a few years.
Brenda Starrr Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I'm rooting for both of them as well. I missed it last week, so, I'll have to watch a little more closely. I'd like to see a rocker-type idol.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I've only seen the show (any season) two times and i dont think i sat through the whole thing either time... i saw one episode that i assume is "this season" but i think it was very early on , as all the people they showed were "losers" that got kicked out of the running. I'll have to admin it was somwhat interesting for awhile, but i think overall since im not a big fan of watching Karakoki , nor do i think "artists" should get the sort of attention that they get in modern society AND as far as i could tell every number was a previously recorded song, which i could hear a better cover of on just about any station, i lost interest. Not sure i thought it was "bad" but with so many other choices of how to spend my time, this one lost. I think if there was no commercials i might have given it a more fair shake. Grrr i cant stand commercials...at which time i start switching channels and never come back unless its really something great, or , just put in one of my now 300+ DVD collection dvds.... Its like "hrmm i could watch Shawshank Redemption or this thing.... " (as an example) I think i could "get into it" if i tried, i just havent really tried. "pop idols" as a group always pissed me off for some reason or another, and im probably projecting that onto these would-be pop idols, perhaps unfairly.
