8 Years And Counting

Today is our 8th wedding anniversary.

In case you're not familiar with the oft-told tale of how Critter & Otter got together, the short version:

Jon IM's me on AOL sometime in February, 1998.

We talk for HOURS at a time, every evening.

Jon, from Florida, comes up to Michigan in April of 1998 on a tiny little crappy motorcycle.

Jon proposes in late April, early May (my own memory is faulty).

We get married in a handfasting ceremony of our own creation by the side of Munising Falls in the upper peninsula. Since our officiate fell through, we did everything by ourselves, in the presence of "The Creator". Then we went to a bed & breakfast and were legally married by phone.

And we have been husband and wife ever since.

Sigh. Jon just called - he's in Monroe and has to take an overtime call all the way out in Jackson. So what little festivities we had planned tonight will be postponed.

Nothing new. Our life together has been one struggle after another. But that's what makes us so strong. We started out struggling, and that pretty much just leaves room for things to keep getting better and better, stronger and stronger.

Anyhoo, just wanted to share this milestone with everybody. We inofficially celebrate at City Club the Saturday nearest the 25th, so this Saturday, raise a glass to us and "the relationship that never should have worked."

Double sigh.

Not only does he have to take a job out in Jackson,

But when he's done with that, he has to go to Madison Heights to get parts then go to a job in Detroit.

And to top it off, the place is a STRIP BAR.

No, this isn't a joke, nor is it a ploy by Jon to "get his jollies" on.

This sucks. If we're lucky, I'll see him at 10:00 tonight. :(

If he's going to a strip bar to work, getting jollies or not...he might be fired up!!!!???? know what I mean?? nudge nudge wink wink!!

Good news! Jon's co-worker Charlie managed to do the strip bar job himself - so Jon's HOME!!!

And I am off the computer the rest of the night.
