It's Official - Xm Kicks Sirius' Ass

We used to have Sirius. The most goth they played was a 2- hour block of "darkwave" on their new wave station, once a week.

I just opened up AOL radio, which basically is XM online. Damn if they don't have a full-time goth station!

We've been thinking about signing up for satellite radio again, and if and when we do, we're going to switch to XM.

I had Sirius in my car until April ... they had an Industrial station .... I don't remember which station it was, I still have my unit, as long as it saved the presets, if I find it, I can look.

I was unaware either of these services had an industrial station.. What station is it, FC? My dad has XM, I use the AOL radio built in to winamp though. What's it called?

if you find out let me know. i look through all the channels every now and then and i have not really found one like that. i pretty much just stick to the stations i like and rarely go through the others just to see what they are all about.

and as for the "goth" definately no goth on the sirius radio. i keep wondering when/if they are going to add a station.

I also discovered it through AOL radio.

Open AOL Radio, click on "Alternative" and "Gothic" is alphabetically down the list.

I was hardset on Sirius, too. But then they lost Air America to XM, which gave me pause. And then I discover how many stations XM has that I'd actually listen to vs. Sirius, and there's no contest. And I really was a very, very loyal Sirius advocate.

Not to mention, XM kicks Sirius' ass where hardware is concerned, no contest. They have more choices, less expensive units. Last I checked, they also had the only portable version that's of any true convenience.

I have a Sirius receiver I need to dredge up from storage and sell. I won't be needing it anymore, once we make the switch.

Hold up, though. I just went to XM's website. And the stuff I'm seeing on the AOL version isn't on the XM radio line-up, including the goth channel.

I'm going to have to do some deeper investigation to see if they're offering things on the AOL version that aren't available on the subscription service. If so, then I'll have to re-think all this.

Major update.

The stations I'm seeing are AOL Radio stations, NOT XM stations. Their player is confusing - they lump it all together.

Damn. Now I wish I could get AOL Radio outside of the freaking PC. Because their lineup is awesome.

TO see XM's current channel lineup, Google XM satellite radio. Compare theirs with Sirius by doing the same thing.

Kind of a bummer. :( Sorry to disappoint anyone with misinformation.

heh yeah Sirius sucks, they only have the NFL, NHL, NBA and college football. Not to mention 2 stations of unsensored Stern as well. Plus the music stations are actually worth listening to definaly not worth the time lol
