Fierce Critter

I read about this in Rolling Stone, and finally joined Monday.

I'm already hooked. This is my first ever online game, and I'm already slacking off housework for it. :b

My character:

Name is Critter Wildcat. The cat personna/skin I bought from a Second Life marketplace. But I'm really looking forward to learning how to create skins and other things on my own.

Cool looking. Kind of sexy in a way.

Hmmm. Would sex with Batman, Robin, Cat Woman, etc. Would that have bestial undertones?

I'm not that kind of furry girl. :)

OMG critter get out while you still have time!!! I know i tried to suck you into the MMO world before but i've learned the error of my ways. Bless me lord for i have sinned!

I was on Second Life for quite awhile back in the day actually i miss it mildly. I remember i went from Second Life to ToonTown Online.. .. like a crack fiend that switches from smack to crack. I heard they recently added a ToonTown racetrack.. omg no i didnt MMOs are the devil!!

I was converted from/to various persistent words:

Medivia (oldschool text mud still in existance) > The Realm (yes there was MMO life before UO)> Meridian 57 > Ulitima Online > EverQuest> Gemstone III> Anarchy Online > Asheron's Call > EverQuest Again> Maple Story > Gunbound > Second Life > ToonTown Online *yes Toontown like were Rodger Rabbit lives* > DAOC > Tibia > The Sims Online > > Puzzle Pirates > EVE Online (probably the slickest of all but the "universe" didnt compel me)> FF Online> Lineage II> EverQuest Again > EverQuest 2 > The Silk Road Online > Tibia Again > Guild Wars > World of Warcraft >

Currently in semi Nirvana not following the endless path of MMO reincarnations. I've managed to follow the Four Noble Truths in gaming at least for a few months.

In that order. With plenty of random other "persistant worlds" thrown in for good measure heh.

I'm currently in my MMO "agonistic" phase , as they seem to always end up consuming my life/time. Kinda like the dark side of the force or some such. There are a few new free to play ones that have recently hit the market that are threatening to suck me into the abyss. "Just when i thought i was out... they pull me back IN! " lol

With the poor health, and my addictive personality , maintianing a presense here and on an MMO (which im usually compeled to become one of the "big shots" of.. thus playing an MMO ends up being a full time job) is near impossible for me. Not to mention all the time i could be spending researching "real" stuff. Actually finished 2 books this month, which i've not done since starting on the path to damnation known as MMOs.:cry

God help me if they ever come out with a true open-ended MMO with a "real" goth theme to it.

I still have people calling me leaving random messages on my cell phone from various MMOs i've played "Hey Troy!! Were have you been?? The Guild needs some help!! We miss you!!" lol

Currently im trying to limit my gaming to:

Settlers of Catan (on and offline),

Sedkuo Puzzles

Random RTS (DoW and SC) matches here and there.

Almost like a recovering heroin addict.

I recall many a conversation wherein you, Troy, like some goth version of Satan the Snake, tried - in vain - to tempt me into the vacuum that is MMO's. :D

I avoided it then for the same reason you have said you need to limit yourself - I was in a state of being that made me unable to lead a productive daily life. It would have been too easy for me to totally become immersed in such a thing, also to the point where I ended up in a "leadership" position, and therefore feel an increased need to be present and available.

It's no coincidence that that same period is when the bulk of my post count happened here on DGN. DGN was, while I was in NC, a type of "virtual world" for me.

But I'm better now. :) It's not as easy for me to slip back into bad habits & inertia.

In some ways, I'm already boring of it. There's no real "endgame" to shoot for. And I get bored just wandering from place to place, clicking on random animations to make my character dance, laugh, etc.

But I do have an ulterior motive or two for joining this particular world. Again, I read about it in Rolling Stone. Among other things, they share how groups like Duran Duran are involved, putting on virtual concerts and the such. I aim someday to possibly promote my original music in the same way.

Also, I'm serious about creating my own avatar and the like. Once I get into something like this, I'm not satisfied with what's available to the general public. I've already taken steps to enable me to drop wireframe "mannaquins" into Photoshop so I can mess with character & clothing creation.

This is my usual MO for learning new software. I get an interest in something, and need to take it to an "above average" level where I can learn something from it.

I may have to get into some animation software, too. Feels daunting, but hey - I got the time, and now the PC system that will allow me to do so. Why not?

I also see the costume creation aspect as a possible inspiration for real-life outfits I might like to put together. This could, indeed, broaden my real-life skills, interests & abilities.

And I also like prancing around as a cute, kitty cat trailing paw prints in her wake. :D

That's a good one.

I wasn't 100% happy with mine after all was said and done. But to change it would entail setting up a new account, and that's too much of a pain in the ass to deal with just to change my last name. So I'll deal with it.

Jon signed up, too. His name is Lutra Stonewall. We've got to find him an otter avatar. He was on a laptop last night while I was on the PC. This is going to open up doors to all sorts of kinky role playing shit, I just know it. :sorcerer:

Actually im having trouble remembering. I was in the bloodline of a Hero guy who i also cant seem to remember either. I had Multiclassed 3 of the 4 classes to 124 and was working on the last one when i sort of went inactive. I was toying with starting that game up again. They have upgraded it a ton or so i've heard. They have "Champion Heros" and "Master Heros" now which i dont think were around (or at least i dont remember them) when i was playing.

Thanks to Phee I actually know what that is now.

Its a simple little game. Pretty fun. Doesnt consume your life to play it which i like. And its fairly easy to get the random ladies that pop in and out of my life to play it. As opposed to trying to brainwash them into liking say Warhammer 40k or something (impossible btw! heh) .

Critter now i know why i falied.

You just summarized all the aspects that i cant stand about MMOs. All that paperdoll, social club, custom avatar craaaaaaap. Hell i deleted like 5 outfits of custom made clothes a friend of mine sent me in WoW becasue it was taking up my bagspace.

Me want pretty shiney things that you cant get except by killing the uber master mega dragon lord of doom... and things that come off the uber dragon lord of doom that will then let me get more pretty armor and weapons to kill his daddy... then i can go stand in town and have the noobs look at my shineys and go "OMG HOW DID YOU GET THAT??" me have no space for random custom crap !!:laugh:

Me want big piles of virtual gold that i can horde and squash little upstarts with!! *makes evil overlord cackling sounds* mwah hah hah hah

As for the random sexual role playing... theres an INN at the crossroads outside of town in WoW i swear to god its a virtual brothel... its supposed to be an adverture stop off for newbies , but basicly the freaks have taken over the thing and are there cybering 24/7. (random funny thing just thought i'd mention it, not really related to what you meant) =D
