I Need A Job

Well, this is the first regular entry for I don't know how long. Basically, I need a job. And bad. The finances are getting low and the future is looking pretty bleak. If anyone has any radio contacts in Michigan, I would appreciate a hook-up. I am looking to do either production or be a board operator. I am already on the air as a volunteer at WXOU, and I like that one. But I would go on-air if need be. Anyone with connections, please let me know.

I assume the issue is $$$. Might have to break down and get one of them regular 9 to 5's until you can break into something.

I've been involved in radio on and off... and unless you hit the jackpot somewhere , it doesn't pay for shit. Even some fairly big-time production guys are volunteers due to the competitive nature of it. (Not exactly the same but similar to hollywood... they tell you , if you'd be happy doing ANYTHING else... do that, because breaking into something that pays well, and regularly is a bitch)

Getting a job as a club DJ is fairly easy with some leg work, but it doesn't pay well at all. Getting in at a "real" radio job... same problem , very competitive, only the tippy top people get paid well enough to earn a decent living.

As for contacts, since your already in at a radio station thats the place to start kissin the ass. Any contacts i might mention are all non-profit college radio types that aren't going to do you any more good than probably who you get get ahold of at your volenteer gig.

Frustrating i know. I wish you the best of luck. But don't get to bummed whatever happens.

Gonna move this to... er... music? I guess. I assume your not just looking for "a job" but specificly a music related job.
