FarrIL Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 So, it was a few weeks before Hallowe'en that I came home from either class or work and I dont know what brought it up, I must've been talking about gas prices...... though I DO remember it was the day I went to fill up and my Jeep wouldnt start because it was low on gas and had wet wires..... but Mother mentioned getting a new car. She said we'd find one that's new enough, but not new, as that'd drain my bank account in a heartbeat, but one that was maybe a few years old so I could get several years out of it before having to get another one. So she did her searching. We found a 2004, Silver Dodge Neon. Within a few days, and after a denial from the bank (( because I dont have any credit )), the car was mine. I no longer drive that red gas-guzzler I loved. ;.; I miss being high off the ground, I'm going to miss the 4-wheel drive, but OOOOHH BABY!! That mileageon this sucker!!! Nearly 300 miles for a 10-gallon tank?! I got up to about..... oh, 285 miles on it before I arrived at Admiral to put a mere 22 bucks in it to fill it. The sad thing is, it's a 4-cylinder, so I cant accelerate too fast on it or my gas goes out the door like it did with the Jeep. But I love not having to fill it up twice every week. =) My stepsister Leslie asked me what it felt like to be poor every month and I said "I love it, it's not so bad" and she goes "Give it a coupleof months". Nah, I make a half-payment every two weeks, which actually doesnt only take out smaller chunks of my paycheck but also pays the bugger off quicker. I'm a happy camper. Though this means I need to curb my social life and so therefore I cant make it downstate that often, but w00!! When I can, I love the idea it barely takes 25 bucks to fill it where it's cost as much as 50+dollars for the Jeep. So, I'm proud I took the dive and got a new car. This'll help me build much-needed credit. And if I keep pacing myself like I have been, then my credit score shouldnt be half bad..... especially since I dont use credit cards. =D ::: Happy-Dance :::
Msterbeau Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Congrats on the car but.... A Neon? Be prepared to pay for servicing that POS. What year is it?
FarrIL Posted November 16, 2006 Author Posted November 16, 2006 Congrats on the car but.... A Neon? Be prepared to pay for servicing that POS. What year is it? Hehe, I said it was a 2004. It's the last year they were made..... so I hear.
Msterbeau Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Hehe, I said it was a 2004. It's the last year they were made..... so I hear. I was just seeing if you were paying attention. It's new enough that it shouldn't hassle you *too* much for a while... I wouldn't bet on it though. :-)
Head Wreck Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 i'ma gonna make people cry. last month i got 800 miles out of one tank on my peugeot
torn asunder Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 i'ma gonna make people cry. last month i got 800 miles out of one tank on my peugeot diesel kicks ass for feul economy!! suck for acceleration, though...
Head Wreck Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 nope. bmw deisels are tastier than thier petrols. and peugeot HDI's are very quick, thats just the 4 cyls. the V10's are supposedly tasty. old school diesels are slow (like mine) but new diesels seem to have conquered that
torn asunder Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 old school diesels are slow (like mine) that's what i meant, ya goof!!
FarrIL Posted November 18, 2006 Author Posted November 18, 2006 i'ma gonna make people cry. last month i got 800 miles out of one tank on my peugeot You suck, but Deisel is also more expensive than Unleaded. Hehe.
Head Wreck Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 yes. but at the millage to gallon and insurance savings it counterbalances the extra 10p per litre and added tax costs. plus you can run a diesel on cooking oil
pharoh Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Not to threadjack, but it's messed up that diesel is more money when it is less refined.
Head Wreck Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 its not more or less refined. just a differant type of oil. crude oil gets seperated by vapour heat and diesel is taken lower down the stack than petrol. in any case. i wouldnt put yank fuel in any european car... engines are rigged for a higher octane over here
torn asunder Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 in any case. i wouldnt put yank fuel in any european car... engines are rigged for a higher octane over here my, how elitist of you!! as for gas milage, that's why i ride my cycle as often as possible, all year 'round... approx. 50mpg!! HAHA!!
Head Wreck Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 yes cycling and or walking is good. esp as the car i'm lookibg for does 20 miles to the gallon (EEK) plus ofsetting the cost of hardned valve seat instalation (going from 4 star leaded to 98 octane unleaded minimum)
torn asunder Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 yes cycling and or walking is good. esp as the car i'm lookibg for does 20 miles to the gallon (EEK) plus ofsetting the cost of hardned valve seat instalation (going from 4 star leaded to 98 octane unleaded minimum) sorry to completely threadjack, but i'm curious... whatcha gettin' hw!? and farril, how ya likin the new ride!?
Rayne Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Congrats on the new car Farril. Neon's are nortorious for having issues, but I had 1 1997 and loved it. ... until it got smashed in an accident with a semi. Seriously, I got it at 54k miles. It was totalled at 119k miles. Had to replace the Oxygen sensor at about 75k miles ... other than routine maintainence, that was it.
Head Wreck Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 sorry to completely threadjack, but i'm curious... whatcha gettin' hw!?and farril, how ya likin the new ride!? looking for a reliant scimitar SE5.
FarrIL Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 and farril, how ya likin the new ride!? The new ride is quite pleasant. I can get up to about 286 miles per tank before it needs a fillin' up. I <3 not having to fill a car up twice a week!!
Klaus Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I do understand how it is to fill up... i went from 25 to about 30 a week in gas. I had a 97 Grandam GT that well it was ready for routine service and ended up needing more than the car was worth. the car was worth 1347 and they wanted 1200 to fix it, so i traded it in and used the cash i saved from my previous job to purchase my 03 seville, and yes i know its a caddy and i know everyone is like WTF, i only payed 16K for it. well the dealer also gave me 2k for m,y trade in of teh Grandam so 14K... but still it was a steal. Basically i went from less to more, but it still is a fill up once a week so its not as bad, but i also did upgrade from a V6 (i think it had a 6....?) to a V8 Northstar, basically the best way to describe it is, if i hit the gas, i dont go, i'm already there. lol
