When it comes to great songs which decade had the best music of all time.

I pick the 1980s cause of the new wave music. I love all songs from the 80s. That would be my guilty pleasure.

2050....

I think the music will be good then

It depends on what decade you grew up in.

Of course "the best generation" of music will be your own.

But I chose the 90's...cause that was the decade of my prime.

*shrugz*

Well aren't we all mostly folks from the 80's gen on here?

I am 29... so I am all over the 90s

The 70's wer'nt too bad,

the 80's were awsome.and the 90's were pretty good,

I am really not into the new millenium thing these days unless its underground

music,non pop that is.

I had to pick the 70's... I mean, every decade has a lot of good music and a lot of shitty music, but the rock from the 70's is way better than disco was bad.

On that we can agree... even some of the disco was good... but really.. it's all subjective... We each listen to what speaks to us.

On this I had to vote for the 70's. I wasn't born then but that's when pink floyd was getting big, sorry, I love pink floyd, no matter what mood I'm in, there's always a song that can be played by them that sounds pleasing to the ears to me....

as for recent music, 80's is my 2nd choice... after that it just all turned to shit, they don't make em like they used to i guess....

I was 80's gen, but chose the 90's, because In my opinion in the 90's there was alot more better music then there was bad, not saying 80's didn't have any good music cause they did, but just a prefrence.

Yeah, the 90's gave us greats like the gin blossoms... and uh, pearl jam... *thinks*

Again, this is an opinion. It depends on your taste in music, I love classic rock and alternative, but I am a hard rock at heart. To me this is the generation of music that pulled to me the most.

my favorites: the 70's, 80's and 90's.

i went with the 80's because i love the 80's and the "new wave" from then.

but over all i'd pick: 70's because of the "classic rock" and the 90's had a variety of stuff but that was more in the early 90's. i guess my favorite time span goes from the late 70's through the entire 80's and stops in the early 90's. i have not been too fond of any music after that sadly. here and there but for the most part i am still waiting for anything fantastic from this decade.

i think the 80's will always be my favorite for everything since that is when i grew up. the toys were the best, the music was the best, the fashion... sucked but back then it was the best!

It's hard to say that fashion from any time sucked. It's all gonna come back around some time anyway, and in 15 years or so we'll look back at pattern faded jeans and those stupid "Live Strong" bracelets and othersuch nonsense (I'm not psychic!) and wonder what the hell we were thinking...

That said, 80's fashion is awesome to me in its own "i don't care that I'm mismatched and hideous" way.

so true. i remember some years back seeing some girl, a young girl, at the grocery store with feathered hair and polyester on. and i thought - wow, that didn't look good the first time around. and she wasn't even alive when that used to be cool.

then after that, seeing some 80's fashions (a guy wearing his collar turned up, a girl wearing a terry cloth tube top, etc)

and now "skinny pants" are popular. reminds me of the pants i wore in 1991. i had a pair with zippers down the back (ankle area). i wore them til the butt fell out and then i just wore shorts underneath. people used to grab them and rip them more so really the whole butt area was gone. wow, what a horrible flashback i just had. i forgot all about that. that was never cool.

as much as some 80's stuff was really god awful (and it was) i loved it. and i wore some of it too. acid washed jeans... yeah i don't know. but i wore them. and i loved and still love jelly bracelets. ;)

ok sorry so off topic, i think it needs a new thread.

yeah sounds sexy but i don't know if it actually was. could be though, everyone was always trying to rip those pants. it's really not my fault they ended up buttless in the end. but they weren't buttless in the prince or howard stern kind of way. that is just creepy.

I guess what it comes down to is that every era gave us something to grow from and love and remember.

The 80's hands down...

The 90s had alot of "crappy" music. Most of the songs were whiny and poor me sounding.

Posted

For me it's a tie between the 70's and the 90's - but I did choose the 90's with my vote because I only got to vote once (make sense?).

I thought overall, the 90's had less crappy music than the 70's (no disco in the 90's) so that's how I made my choice.

The evil that was boy bands far surpassed the evil that was ABBA. But I grew up in the 90's so I guess I'm biased.
