As I sit here deeply involved in my current music selection I can't help but reminisce about how I came to know the bands that I love so dear.

Where were you when you first heard your favourite bands? What was the first song, the first album you bought of theirs?

My first and greatest love:

KMFDM- I was 18 years old (a little over 10 years ago). I was talking on the phone with a girl I knew from the local BBS where we played Doom 2. I'm pretty sure her name was Nicole and she was 16. We were chatting innocently on the phone and in the background she was playing music, I heard this song that caught my attention and I had to find out what it was, "Juke Joint Jezebel" was the reply. On the strength of this one song I went out and purchased Nihil and was forever entranced by KMFDM. I've bought all of their albums (and many of the singles) twice as my entire CD collection was stolen about 8 years ago. I've only seen them twice in concert but they remain my most beloved of all bands.

My second greatest love:

My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult- My life with metal music blossomed late and so it was not unusual that my first experience with this band would be in The Crow soundtrack. After the Flesh encouraged me to seek more Thrill Kill music which took me a long while when I finally managed to find A Crime for all Seasons. at first the sexy disco-esque album threw me off from the display in the Crow but as I collected more albums (especially Hit & Run Holiday) I became completely interwoven into the Life.

Sexy Satanic Disco:

Electric Hellfire Club- Thrill Kill Kult led me of course to the Electric Hellfire Club which has filled my heart with the most beautifully satanic disco that I can imagine. With a strong blend of sex, disco, satanic worship and bad-ass metal.... EHC has influenced me in many aspects of my life. They allowed me to realize that being satanic can be beautiful and sexy. It took me a great long time to track down any albums, instead I had a good collection of songs I'd downloaded many years back and placed randomly on 3 or 4 assorted EHC cd's.

Scumdogs Unite:

GWAR- At some point in time everyone's heard *of* Gwar, even if you've never heard any of their songs. I had only vaguely heard of them until I saw the movie "Empire Records" in which they make a guest cameo with the song "Saddam-a-go-go". The blaring trumpets in this song hooked me into buying one of their albums "Carnival of Chaos" and soon thereafter I bought "dawn of the Day of the Night of the Penguins". I was instantly impressed with the degree of musical talent (even if the lyrics make no sense, they still sound good when applied to the music). I've seen them in concert twice also and loved every minute of the psuedo filth.

got Love for my homies:

Insane Clown Posse- I had never heard any of their songs. I had been collecting Spin magazine (getting Manson pics for my wall collage) and was always seeing them. I didn't even know what kind of music they made. Finally after hearing so much about the controversy surrounding them I ventured out to buy "The Amazing Jekyl Brothers". The same week I bought this album I went back to the store and bought all the other albums they had.

These 5 bands would have to be on my top 10 list along with NIN, Manson, Lords of Acid, 3-6 Mafia and Rob Zombie.

Motley Crue I started to listen to them when I was in 5th or 6th grade, when their Theatre of Pain album came out. It was an awesome time period, when Mtv actually showed videos, good ones at that, and the music kicked ass.

I was a kid when I developed my love for music from some of my moms old stuff.

3 dog night......

Simon and Garfunkle.....

Really old stuff.

Then I developed my own tastes.......led zepplin and black sabbath.......

U2 and Men at work......

Back to metal for awhile with Ac/DC and Priest.....

Some grunge.....in the 90's

Quens ryke......metallica.....

Then I get into Techno.......which surprised even me.

The band that I discovered before any of my friends was Pantera and I mean literally. Back in 90/91 just after they released their Cowboys from hell CD I met them purely by accident when I walked into Rock of ages one day.

Pantera was there to do an in store meet and greet but the store was empty. I noticed them standing around and asked the owner of ROA who they were. After talking with them (pantera) for a few and getting autographs I decided to buy their cd and was hooked.

None of my friends knew about them for a while after but it didn't take others too long before they got the message - the band kicked major ass.

Oh by the way thanks for starting this.....just listening to some fileshare of Electric Hellfire Club, so far I like.

So far I got servants of evolution and Satan's little helpers, and slaughter of elysium.
