editing posts?

is there a way to edit old posts without re-bumping them to the top of the forum?

typically, when i edit old posts, (at least in my forum) i don't see them bump to the top - i guess i'm not that special!! :laughing: (or else i'm very inattentive!)

No, semi-unfortunately, that's the way the system is supposed to work. It just knows that something is being done to a post and moves the thread back up so that other users can see that there have been changes in the thread, whether it's to edit, a new post was added, whatever.

Editing posts bumps them ? It used to do that on EZ Board, but , at least when i edit them it doesnt bump them in IPB. That actually was a COMPLAINT by some people, that posts >should

Some threads I've seen do indeed move up when there's a new response or editing done to them. Perhaps it's our phantom cookie issue(s) cropping up again?

Careful though, as if i find out there is a way to >cause< edited threads to be bumped, ill probably want ot enable it for all edited threads, rather than stamp out the cases where they dont get bumped.  :laughing:

I went and edited a quiz that I had orginated and it did NOT bump it up to the top of the forum. I didn't actually change anything but that shouldn't make a difference since I went through the edit and clicked the "Submit edited post" button. (Can't imagine that the board is "intelligent" enough to know whether you actually changed something or not.)

from what i've seen, edits don't bump, but new posts do...
