Homicidalheathen Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 This Sukisho! That my kid is having me watch. Guess its one of her fave cartoon series. Progressive yes....gay males living in an all gay school.....spoken in Japanise and with sub titles...... It has some nice animae' people....and I can see the influence on fashion....blue mop tops.....skinny boys......who cry allot.....very EMO. But its like this lame ass soap opera....not written very well. The story and dialog sucks. Guess this is a teen boys gay fantasy and/or a teen fag hags fantasy...... I don't think I am going to make it through the whole tape.
Homicidalheathen Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 So I asked them if its still the same as it used to be over in Japan.......kinda traditional old fashioned anti gay...and they said it has really changed, gay is actually more preffered in some parts..... So I guess that explains this wierd cartoon. Now I know why my kids look like japanese animae' charactures......its very popular. But I am not making it through 3 of these episodes.......its lame and too emo for me. The music is actually kinda funny.
Homicidalheathen Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 Ok, now.....This one is good. Its called Ergo Proxy and its great artwork and story lines.
Der Nister Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Oh I feel your pain - that anime stuff really gets on my nerves. The "art" is all the same, the characters all look the same. It's as if they have one animator in Japan ans that person does every single cartoon (or anime - for you purists) that is produced. IMO - if they stopped making anime tomorrow and just re mixed the old ones with new dialog no one would notice. It's just to plain and uninspired for me to sit through. Glad my child was into Scooby doo and rug rats. *lol*
Head Wreck Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 some anime is good, though i must admit its the stuff that's not meant for children. anime always has been the same, the 80's were just big robots, more big robots, and yet more big robots without thought as to why there should be big robots. kinda bad stuff tbh, but patlabor was one of the ferw that rationalised the big robot thing. but thank god they moved away from that, i think its was due to one big sucess and everyone copies. same with pokemon and its ilk (yu Gi Oh etc. and other CRAP!). but nothing NOTHING! beats 1940's bugs bunny cartoons when bugs was bogie inspired
AstralCrux Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I've seen some good anime- Fushigi Yuugi, Escaflowne, Rouruni Kenshin and others that have very interesting plot lines- most of what I like however is set in early japan or china or in a fantasy realm. I also tend to be specific about how I like things drawn and I disagree that the drawing style is all the same. There are programs I can't even watch because the style is far too rough around the edges as a drawing style. I couldn't stand how irritating bugs bunny was. Dude, the plot line was always the same, no story- just a rabbit being a jerk. One can only handle so much corny slapstick! I do have to give them credit at least the drawing style was decent, but give me a good plot with my cartoons! I'm not even going into the insanity that is Bratz!
