Has anyone seen this exhibit in person?

I missed it last time but thinking of going this time. I'm just a little hesitant to take my 9 year old daughter. She's said she's interested in seeing it but I'm wondering if she might get a bit freaked out at being so close to preserved human bodies. She has always said she either wants to be a vet or in the medical field though, and she watches surgeries and things on TV without flinching.

If anyone has seen it yet, I am wondering what the impact is, seeing it in person.

I really wanted to! It looked great.....but am not hobbling around on crutches in that big place.

I went and took my brother with over the Spring!!

It was really really interesting.

They took a body and cut it into slices.....

It's real body alright....., donated for science.

They make it into a very scientific and very matter of fact kind of display.

I don't think of it as being sad....this man donated his body for the purpose of science, and to me, that is very noble....and thoughtful....astonishing.

I went to Chicago specifically to see this display, and go to this museum.

I think it would be a wonderfuil expirience for her.

HOWEVER.....There is a section called the miracle of life (I think) where it takes you through the stages of gestation via real embryo's (About 20 of them or better....)....I can see that being kind of disturbing. But nevertheless, informative and interesting.

Goes from a tiny beans sized embryo to a real 9 month fetus....and all of the sizes in between.

When you get to month 7-8-9...it's alittle disturbing, cause it is real babies, and they have facial expressions and everything....

Ugh. Seeing the facial expressions would be hard to endure. That part I think would upset ME, though I would love to see the rest. Is it possible to skip that part and still see the rest?

She knows the facts of life but I don't want her (or me) to have nightmares about dead babies.

Yes, Onxy, it is a seperate display and on seperate floors from what I remember....

Even though disturbing, (A little...*I* personally don't get too rattled over it because it's all donated for science and they are pretty clear on that.....) I definatly recommend it....

It is very wheelchair accessible HH!! Although I don't remember if they actually provide the chairs....

There are elevators and ramps to get to each exhibit!

It is a very interactive museum...there is a lot of ground to cover!!

Yes I have, I've seen it two different times at the California Science Center in LA. It's awesome. Though I found the pregnant one disturbing, I was still in awe in amazment.

We checked, they have chairs and so I think I am taking the kids on Sunday.

By the way, anyone who is going, it really is an all-day thing if you like science museums. You can stay alll day and still not see it all. They have a pretty good cafeteria there too.

I really wanted to go last time this was in Chicago but couldn't make it... hm, maybe I can talk Tokagemaru into making it part of a romantic weekend trip for my birthday or Valentine's Day... I know looking at plasticized corpses is prolly not most people's idea of a romantic way to spend time but hey, romance is what you make it, right?
