Marblez Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Note to all: I know you mean well, but please try to refrain from bashing other Detroit Gothic related sites. Comparisons are okay, but comments like "XXX board are all assholes" is not. Like it or not whether personalities collide or click, we are closely linked with these "other" forums. Online personas aside, some of these people you might even consider your friends. We all enjoy much of the same IRL activities such as clubs, concerts etc. There are DGNers who are loyal members of countless other message boards. I don't want DGN to have the name for bashing anyone elses home forum. This is just bad publicity. Are we different? Sure we are, from my experience. Is DGN better? For my taste, yes, I like it better. But others will not see it the same. For some, DGN will be just too tame. Perhaps not controversial enough. We need to respect their rights to exist in this online scene without such judgement. Before anyone says "But they said &%& about DGN?" - There is plenty that someone could and will say about DGN...to this, I say that two wrongs don't make a right. This is how I feel.
Vater Araignee Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Glad I'm just a DGNer that removes the temptation. Well that's DGNer out side of Vater's Ego Maniacal Kingdom and if I want to say "Screw Vater Araignee he is an egotistical SOB and his site is crap!!" Then I will but I don't want to so I wont. BTW he is and it is...
Scary Guy Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I don't say the other forum sucks because they say anything about DGN. I say it sucks because I hate it over there and everyone acts like retards on drugs (which is what most of them are). I only bash them when the oppertunity comes up, or if it is related, or if it's a day that ends in Y. Yah finally I do have friends over there, they know who they are, they also know I hate most of the board and whatever I say does not apply to them (or at least they should, if they don't then they don't meat the IQ level high enough to be my friend).
Marblez Posted March 14, 2005 Author Posted March 14, 2005 Please consider this post less of a discussion and more of a direction. It is not acceptable and that is not a debateable point.
paradox Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 does that mean no boxing matches? :( j/k. point taken.
Jarodaka Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 ...well, if we have the boxing match on pay-per-view we could raise money for the web sites.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Its also a judement call as to what constitues a "critical comment" vs. "bashing". "Thoes guys on XYZ board are all assholes fucks them god damnit!" (for example) I'd like to keep off DGN. "YOu might find XYZ board a bit not to your liking due it being a bit less "friendly" than you may like" might be fine. My somones personal opinion about something, often , just would come off as being way to rude to say in an open forum. As with most all social things , its a juggling act as to what is just "comentary" and what is "rude".
TomCat Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I don't say the other forum sucks because they say anything about DGN. If I wanted to be treated rudely and unfairly, I'd hook up with my ex. So that means never. I'll just say I like it here and don't need to venture elsewhere.
Scary Guy Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 THen again if we didn't have the strict "be nice or else" policy that is in place here, this forum may have devolved into what the other one without it has become. In a way I kind of like it over there though because at least I know who my friends are and who I should hate. Not saying anything just pointing out a point of view. Personally I'd rather people be up front about it than descreet and tactful. I happen to lack any and all tact for a reason, I don't believe in it. I also hate being told what not to talk about, but I'll respect the wishes of the forum and avoid future forum bashing when other forums are concerned. Besides I can post in a news/editorial section on my site if it makes me angry enough
