He was beating her in 50% of the polls before he even announced. He's the media darling. The fact that he has almost no political experiance doesn't seem to matter to the media... he seems to be a walking God to the mainstream media.

If he does well enough in the first few primarys, gets his message (that is a good one from what I have read) out to the people in a clear and sincere way without somehow getting shot in the head while doing a speach in the south...

He has a good chance.

1. His name is one letter away from Osama. That's gonna work against him, sadly... He clearly thinks like a "senator" instead of a "president," and that's gonna work against him. Check his official website: He's all up on the vox populi and people haven't been comfortable with that since the Clinton administration. He doesn't sound pissed off enough.

2. I think he's a good candidate for the same reasons he won't get elected. I'm disappointed that he doesn't take a firm stance on civil rights on his website (yet), and I'm sure that since he's a Democrat, I'll disagree with him on Affirmative Action. Unless he has a spine, in which case, he's got my vote with almost no further contemplation.

3. I like him better than any of the other candidates so far.

Gaf- It appears he was a State senator while Hillary's husband was still in office. That's more than enough political experience for me.

dubya has been a "president" his whole life.

and as for the "talking like a senator" thing, that's why he SHOULD be a president. but we're brainwashed now. we want a man of ACTION who will tell us what to do and think and how to be and what's right and wrong and who we're gonna blow up next, not a man who's gonna ASK us what we think is right.

Faced with the reality of the moment, with all the relavent information that is availible... He/She has to make decisions, most of them are really hard.. because they affect billions...

Senators talk and debate. Then do it some more. Sometimes, they manage to talk until enough of them agree to stop debating long enough to vote on some subject. On a rare occasion they get a good enough vote to actually do something.

Senators don't make Presidents.

senators make decisions every time they vote. it's not that they CAN'T make personal decisions. if anything, being forced to argue one's opinion time and again on the senate floor would make one more sure of the ethics and logic behind his standpoint.

not sure how many senators have succeeded to presidency.

I'm hoping that what Rolling Stone opines in the current issue happens.

That Al Gore is biding his time, and is going to allow Obama and Clinton to bash each other senseless in the running - and then jump in at the last minute and say, "what the heck - how's bout me?"

Word is things could go very, very well for him if he does this.

Frankly, I don't think either Obama or Clinton could beat Giuliani or McCain if they run. Too much "new" for the average American methinks.

I think I am going to wait until we know who is actually running before I decide who I will vote for. Lots of people are running now.. but noone is even close to having a party nomination as yet. So far.. I'm leaning toward Guliani.. or how ever it is spelled.

It's really hard to speculate at this point.

Here's the thing:

Primaries appeal to the base, which is usually much father left or right(for GOP) than who votes in the general election.

Hillary still won't say her decision to get into Iraq was a mistake (Edwards is making political hay of it)

She doesn't seem to take too many stands.

She tends to be polarizing, even among Dems

AND

Obama is taking away some of the suburban female vote Clinton covets.

The ace up her sleeve.

MONEY! Lots of it!

And connections that makes her a virtual printing press for greenbacks.

He was against the war in 2002.

2/3 think the war was a mistake

3/4 think its going poorly

He has keen insight

He's very sharp

(His book Audacity of Hope is GOOD)

He knows how to build bridges, not polarize and burn them.

I personally think he'd be great for our country, and Id seriously consider voting for him.

AND.

I think America's more ready for a Black man in the white house than a woman.

We won't discuss it as openly as the whole Osama/Obama thing but,

We like a strong leader and strong women are still painted out to be sexless opportunistic shrews.

(Just ask someone who dislikes Hillary)

Sexism is more subtle, but I think it runs deeper than racism.

I'm going to wait and see what happens with Gore and Edwards, before I make a final decision.

sadly, you're right about people being judgmental on race and sex.

happily, the guy's not *black*... he's mixed. all other things being equal, he'd probably be slightly more popular than a guy who was darker skinned.
