Fierce Critter Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Took Grover to his appointment with the vet yesterday. Getting a VERY reluctant 18+ lb cat into a small carrier was NOT easy, let me tell you. I ended up having to set the carrier on it's back end, and had to drop him in tail first. Even then he meowed and complained so loudly, when I took him outside, the neighbors across the street cleaning off their cars got a good laugh. They took x-rays to view the size of Grover's heart. And I'm happy to report his heart is perfect. He has no murmur - the first sign of the condition that killed his brother, Lincoln. He's about 3 lbs overweight, which is going to be difficult to fix because he's an incredibly sedentary cat. Likes to sit back, look majestic, and lord over his feline kingdom. Too snooty to play with the others, ya know? But some Iams weight control food will help. Expensive goddamned visit. $250 for x-rays, vaccines, ear mite treatment, tapeworm treatment. The rest of the brood will need everything but the x-rays, so they'll be $125 a pop. Some were already treated for tapeworm (residual from a flea bout), so it won't cost quite as much for all of them. Worth the investment. And hella cheaper than kids.
Vampyro Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 yay! happy healthy, expensive, yet inexpensive compared to kids, lovable kitties! Glad to hear your cats are doing fine.
torn asunder Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 sorry, i read the title & thought, "what kind of good news could a little, blue, furry monster have"!?!?
Vampyro Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 sorry, i read the title & thought, "what kind of good news could a little, blue, furry monster have"!?!? To answer that... if cat's had lips... this is some good news they could bring you according to them.... "Hey! I left you a present under your bedsheets while you were gone! I ate the front half when i caught it and left you the back half!" "um, since you like to scare me with that vaccum so much, I decided to swat some turds of mine around from the litter box and I lost it in your left shoe and it's not quite dry..... yet...." "Yay you're home! I was worried you wouldn't make it home in time to water your plants, so i peed in them for you!" "here, just try it once, sniff my ass, seriously, once you try it you'll see why we do it all the time!"
