Onyx Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 When someone is sick it always brings out the mommy in me. Some of my personal remedies: Get some Emergen-C vitamin drink, chicken soup (actually does have elements that break up congestion, ginger tea for sore throat (fresh ginger thinly sliced into hot water or powdered with a bit of sugar) and hot baths for body aches. The thing I hate the most is the congestion that gets into my lungs and lasts for nearly a month. arrgh.
Steven Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 the ginger idea sounds great.....as a singer I'm constantly looking for drug free throat remedies, and I love the tatste of ginger...
JaneDead Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 i'm sick too critter. it sucks. :( mine started off with losing my voice 2 weeks ago/sore throat. then it turned into just a "cold" then a sinus infection, now ear infection and the dr said my ear drum might rupture and has blisters on it. in a way i wish it would and get rid of this pain! and to top it off i have a bladder infection too. i guess it is a good thing i could get this shot that should take care of all 3 at once instead of taking pills a few times a day for a week.
Fierce Critter Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 Damn, JD. I almost feel better for all your ills. Got the chicken soup. My throat's o.k., it's the usual one day of runny nose, today is stuffy nose with tons of blowing, blowing blowing. Tomorrow will be probably a half day of the same, then clearing towards evening. Same thing every time. Brief break to check e-mail. Back to bed!
Fierce Critter Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Hack. Snort. Last night was the usual "worst night" when my nose completely plugs up and I can't breathe and I have to sleep sitting-up to help myself breathe a little. Woke up every hour or so with a completely dry mouth from breathing through my mouth, and had to sip a cup of water for that. Today, mostly unplugged but now it's drain, drain, drain and blow, blow, blow. It'll be this way for at least a couple more days. When I have panorex (full-face) x-rays done at a new dentist, they usually treat it like some kind of Ripley's Believe It Or Not episode. Seems I have remarkably large sinuses. Makes for a hell of a headnote when singing, but damn if it doesn't make what should be a simple cold a major, miserable disruption of life. This has been your daily cold report. Back to your regularly scheduled lives.
