slingerlandstyx Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Hi everybody, my girlfriend (disturbedmania) has been pushing me to get on here for a while now, so I finally decided to get off my ass.... or rather on it, seeing as how it's damned hard to use a laptop standing up. I've met a few of you at CC, you seem like a pretty nice group of people. Oh, and Troy... I can't think of a single thing that irritated me last Saturday. Don't sweat it. Jeremy

slingerlandstyx Posted March 17, 2005 Author Posted March 17, 2005 Where do ya live? Grow up in Detroit? Been involved in "the scene" long? Hobbies? Other stuff? (i know at least one of these answers but the rest of the freaks around here may not) feel free to ignore anything you feel is to personal. We going to see you this weekend at CC ? I'm in Southfield, so it takes me about an hour to get to City... As far as Scene involvement I've only been coming to CC for a few months now. I'm a drummer... I don't have a band and I wouldn't mind being in one, but I'm only mediocre at best. I need to work on my meter a bit more first. I love to sail. I'm a member of the GDSC, (Greater Detroit Sunfish Club) and have a few awards for racing hanging on my wall at home. I want to go to school for massage therapy, as a few of you already know. : Hopefully I'll be able to save up and get my financial aid in order before the year is out. I'm pretty good without any training already... Hmmm, maybe I should start charging? J/K... that wouldn't be fair, 'cause there's no way i could charge my girlfriend. Anyhoo... Probably won't be at City this weekend, however, Brandy and I were thinking about going to Mephisto's on Saturday. Thats all for now... Happy St. Patrick's Day Everybody! -Jeremy

I've only ever lived 3 places my whole life, and they're in Southfield (now) and Berkley, sou it could just be the make-up.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Probably won't be at City this weekend, however, Brandy and I were thinking about going to Mefisto's on Saturday. bah! grumble :ermm: go to luna or mephistos on Wed. Do you have your own boat and such? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do, in that it is my boat to sail. My dad owns 3 Sunfish, so that he, my sister and myself can race together. My older Brother owns his own boat too. Its lots of fun, I intend to drag Brandy along to a couple of races this year. -SS
Fierce Critter Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I THOUGHT the "slingerland" was a drum reference... By any chance is the Styx in reference to the band, or the river? Either way, nice to meet-cha!
slingerlandstyx Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 I THOUGHT the "slingerland" was a drum reference... By any chance is the Styx in reference to the band, or the river? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow, somebody else thats heard of Slingerland drums..... I own a vintage mint-condition Slingerland 5-piece kit. Still sounds great, although the shells are starting to show their age. The styx half was a nickname I had in high school. ~Jeremy
Fierce Critter Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 I've been in bands from Jr. High through the mid 90's, and have seen many a drummer come and go. So I'm familiar with the name brands - Tama, Slingerland, Pearl, Remo, Sonor, etc. As well as the cymbals - Zildjians, Paiste, Sabian, etc. But my faves are Ludwigs. I don't play myself, but it's a "daddy" thing. Dad played drums in combos in the 40's, and he had pearl grey Ludwigs.
