Fierce Critter Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I used to read magazines like People, Us, etc regularly. Liked to watch shows like Entertainment Tonight, Extra, etc. In recent years, my interest in the lives of celebrities has turned to nearly nil. I think it's because my life has become so complicated and busy. I have no patience for whiny rich bitches and assholes who can't get their lives together, squander what they have been given or worked for, etc. Yeah, everybody's human. But these people don't give a shit about my life, why should I care about theirs? Never been much for idol-worship, either. If I ran into any of my favorite musicians, I'd probably not be real interested in talking with them, because I see them more as co-workers than some kind of "higher power". I might be interested in "talking shop" with someone like Robert Smith, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Peter Murphy, etc. But I wouldn't be all starstruck and frozen. Well, maybe with Paul McCartney. He's a fucking Beatle. I'm not even interested in much of the coverage of new bands in my lifetime subscription of Rolling Stone anymore. I read it more for politics than music these days. How 'bout you? Are you entertained by the shenanigans of people like Britney Shears, Paris Whorelton, even musical celebrities like that guy in one of those "The" bands that keeps getting busted for being high and stuff?
Steven Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 because of where I've lived I have: Drank Beers and talked shop at a private party with: Tommy Shaw (Styx) (rather aloof) Jack Blades (Damn Yankees / Nightranger) super cool down to earth cat Sass Jordan (canadian rock vocalist premier) sexy as hell and rather shy I was an electrician on the job with: Fieldy from Korn prior to Korn's leaving the club scene for greener pastures Talked to and was disgusted by: Dianne Cannon recorded in the same studio and shot the shit with: Michael Sweet from Stryper when he went solo Recorded an album with: Eric Turner (guitar player, this is VERY old school) from the Darryl Mansfield band, Bacchus, and many 70's rock albums from the Detroit era of music Turned down an invatation to speak to and have a picture taken with at a private Hollywood fundraiser: Bill Clinton (I asked to have my picture taken with Don King instead) had lunch with, was interviewed by, and eventually became friends with: Alexandra Paul, TV actress from baywatch (tree hugger, like BIG TIME) got high with: a host of 80's sunset strip mini celebrities and MTV flavours of the week. did lines in the in the house of: kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge and blah blah blah..... no. celebrity does not impress me. but if I met Bowie i'd ask him all kinds of questions about marc bolan. and Brenda Starr impresses me more than all of them put togethor.
Fierce Critter Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 Alright. I admit. I want to know what in hell Dyan Cannon did to disgust you. And though I'm not impressed by celebrity per se, I'm impressed at your experiences. Very interesting.
Steven Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Alright. I admit. I want to know what in hell Dyan Cannon did to disgust you. And though I'm not impressed by celebrity per se, I'm impressed at your experiences. Very interesting. my expereinces were all just things that happened along the way, nothing to be impressed with, its just stuff. Dianne Carroll is an interesting lady. I have seen two sides of her. When i was working as an electrician in the Hollywood Hills I worked for three years on a mansion owned by a clothing designer (Carol Little fashions) who wanted to be a movie producer. He lived across the street from her. She used to stop by and hang out with him and talk to the worker guys sometimes. He was fucking EL GROSS-O though, a slimeball who had his place while his wife had her place in Bel Aire. He was always bringing home these hot young betties and I overheard alot of his conversations through the vents above the gym. He likes butt. He and Dianne were very kissy kissy hollywood. he produced her movie, called "the end of innocence" which was a monumental flop. He had a private bodygaurd that went everywhere with him, retired LAPD, he like like Sven from Sveden and loved to keep a chrome automatic hanging out of his pants above his ass crack. He liked to be looked at. He liked to bark orders. Everybody who worked for this guy was a butt kisser as he had huge coin. You drive down the hill onto the boulevard and see all the mexican immagrent houskeepers waiting for the bus after a long day serving the royalty of the hills. All of it made me sick. Maybe I'm being hard on her for her association with him but he was fucking slime. many Years later I ran into her through the Dream Center in Los Angeles. The Dream center is this big TBN christian ministry. Big Big dollars, big big business. i had a christian rock band that played there sometimes. She had become a Christian and had her own church services at the NBC studios. Celebrities would do church there. She had become very...."charasmatic" in her style. And she was a Dream Center celebrity. People looked at her like she was moses. but I knew Moses friend. Reminded me of those days back in the Hollywood Hills.
Brenda Starrr Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 and Brenda Starr impresses me more than all of them put togethor. *blush* I'm glad you don't do the drugs anymore. You impress ME.
Msterbeau Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I DON'T CARE!! However... If I have the opportunity to meet one that I actually admire, I take it. I've met some famous race car drivers. Most are kinda arrogant buttheads. One was funny, but he might have been drunk. I met Tim Allen. He was OK. That's about it.
Scary Guy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I don't care, unless I actually know them personally and they're a friend of mine. At that point I'm not interested in a celebrity I'm just interested in a friend of mine. I guess it also depends on who you consider to be a celebrity too. Britney Spears is just another random slut to me but William Faith and Monica Richards are awesome. People who's work I admire and respect I'd consider to be celebrities. People who are just popular and well known for being idiots (Anna Nichole and Paris Hilton for instance) need to die in a gutter (ok well that's one down )
Steven Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 *blush* I'm glad you don't do the drugs anymore. You impress ME. they were killing me, Love. I wanted to see what might happen to me if I actually stayed alive. took some time but I eventually ended up here. funny how stuff like that works out.....
sass_in_the_pants Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Do I care enough to buy the magazines? Well, no. Do I care enough to show up at my doctor's appointment 20 minutes early so that I can read the latest gossip? Hells yeah!
Homicidalheathen Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Depends, I go through phases. Lately I dont read all of the star that comes and quit my subscrip. I still buy cosmo allot of times but don't have much time to read and do feel I am out of touch with new music releases, yes. It sucks.
JaneDead Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 How 'bout you? Are you entertained by the shenanigans of people like Britney Shears, Paris Whorelton, even musical celebrities like that guy in one of those "The" bands that keeps getting busted for being high and stuff? honestly, not in the least. i'm the person who when everyone is talking about someone i say "who is that?" they say "you know that guy in that one movie (insert movie title here)" and then i say "no.. and i never heard of that movie either" "you know, the guy who is married to so and so" and then i say "i don't know who that is either" i am also terrible with people in bands. i have "favorite" bands but i couldn't tell you who was in that band or what they even looked like. hell, steve yzerman came in my work one time (this was arbor's before it was cvs and he was picking up PICTURES) and i didn't know who he was. not like he's world famous or anything but he is steve yzerman and he was pretty well known around that time. goes to show how much i care about known people. even if i saw one of my more favorite/known celebrities in person i would not approach them or make a big deal about it. they are just people. i really don't think celebrity/popularity makes someone greater than say the average joe i pass on the street. i just remembered another thing- my friend used to date kid rock when he lived in royal oak and i lived right by him. by this time he was "known" though not "famous" and i had heard he was an asshole from someone else. i used to live over there and they would call me to hang out and i always said no, i didn't want to meet him and only because i heard he was an asshole. i just thought of him because this topic got me to thinking of this other girl i know who was SO star struck by kid rock when he came into somewhere she worked (she didn't meet him but she had access to his personal info) she copied his driver's license info just to have it. i thought omg. he is just a person! to which she says "oh my god it is kid rock!" i thought- you know, if he was not popular i bet you wouldn't give that guy a second glance on the street.
Scary Guy Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 "Great people talk about ideas. Small people talk about other people." - Tobias S. Gibson Just thought I'd toss that out there.
Onyx Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I don't care - not even about Paul McCartney, heh. Most of their lives are a train wreck anyway and the only thing they have going for them is they have some cash. Take that away and most of them are nothing. Even among the ones with talent there aren't very many I'd want to spend any time with. It seems fame often ruins people.
Hellion Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 http://www.illwillpress.com/ Just click on the picture of Foamy,LOL!!!
xBrutalBeautyx Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 All the celebritys I would have any REAL interest in meeting are dead. I subcribe to Entertainment Weekly. I like to know what movies are going into production (Tim Burton + Sweeny Todd = WOW!), their 'must list' is rather funny, and they cover books and such. But celeb drama is distasteful at very best. I have interest in actors/actresses/musicians with intregrity, substance and a good sense of humor, though even now my list of them dwindles. As far as being a rabid fan......hardly.
Bpage Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 It would take me a long time to list all the people i've seen/waited on since I moved out here. I still get a little butterfly or something whenever somebody famous comes in or I see on the street. It's usually a double take to see if it's really that person or not. I did get flustered waiting on Tim Burton and Lisa Marie although they were super cool. Sean Penn and Lars dined together, they were great. Bill Clinton, George Lucas, REM, Green Day, most of Metallica, Nicholas Cage, Gweneth Paltrow and many others. I think it's odd to finally see or meet a person that you know about but have never met before ?!?! As for the tabloid mags, I really don't pay attention but somehow I seem to always know the general stuff going on. I think mags like People have really changed from when I used to read them in High School. Everything has just gotten sooooo trashy and now days people are famous for no reason other than being some rich person and that doesn't interest me.
