Is It Really Working Again?

Recommended Posts

Ok so first it got hacked, then it was fixed, then it broke for me, Maria, and I'm going to assume everyone else as well. Now it seems to be working correctly again.

What exactly is the deal here anyhow?

You got me... I have no clue

I think that only Troy has the real answers to this.

Brenda did it. She logged into DGN without any makeup on and just about blew the server up.

Screw it, if that's all that is wrong with the site I say it's a small price to pay. All the posts still exist, all the users information still exists, all the signatures still exist etc...

Too bad the calender still exists. I think that information needs to be refreshed anyhow.

After the "hack fix" ... the problem was that i locked down file permissions a bit to hardcore, so that the database that holds the forum posts wasnt accessable by most people so you'd get an error when trying to view the stuff. It was all working, just not accessable. (fixed now)

Right now theres a smilar problem with some of the image files, which, i could fix by a wholesale file permissions "free up" but i'm going to take it slow and make sure its only the bare-minium needed to make everything work properly. Theres a lot of files involved so it might take a day or two.

But, everything is "there" and most all the key stuff works. Just some random kinks to massage away.

These are minor inconveniences... take your time & get it done right, sweetie... we appreciate all your time & hard work spent. :respect:

:p

Just cause I don't kiss ass and I tell it like it is.

I will say running a webserver is no easy task though and everyone makes mistakes once in a while (both the admins and the coders of the OS/software). Minimizing those mistakes is the key though.

This 👆 definitely goes with what I said in my other post - getting old sucks. Seems like *everything* takes longer and takes more energy out of me than it used to. Really need to work on my diet and exercise, I've found the older I get, the more important those things have really become...

Well we were supposed to leave last night, but life has a way of making plans for you. I'm about to get up and get ready to go on our vacation. Had and still have a lot to do.  Not easy to just up and leave a ranch with a lot of animals and things that need taken care of. We even have people here to watch and tend things while we're gone, but still.   I had to change the radiator in my car before we leave - got that done last night. Took a lot more out of me than I thought it would, so by the time I finished I had little energy for anything else. Today I just have a couple more quick things to do on the car, like cleaning it and packing stuff. Couple of minor things to do around the ranch today, as well.   I figure we should be on the road this evening sometime. I'm looking forward to it. We're going to see the wife's side of the family, people I actually like,  in Vegas and AZ. Should only be gone for a few days, maybe a week. Going to the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead and all kinds of stuff in between, so I'm pretty stoked. I LOVE the Southwest.   Wish me luck that my car survives the desert! (Hence new radiator) 🤠👍

Sometimes sleep can be a scary thing.  I passed out so hard at 4:54pm today.  Yesterday wiped me out with rentals, appointments and helping a lost dog get back home.  Fortunately, I found him on Facebook and contacted the owners and he was picked up before nightfall.  But I think I totally overdid it and paid for it today in the middle of handling business.  Thankfully it was some work at home stuff.   I definitely do not like being that kind of tired.  It's like the World could end and I'd wake up afterwards trying to find out what happened.
