Troy Spiral (13) Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Welcome back. What do we need to do to get you to stay, and post more regularly? (serious question) Always curious what makes people "stay".
hunhee Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Welcome Flowofwoe.. it's always nice to see people returning and stuff..
hunhee Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 *chuckles* every time someone says "did you miss me?" I always think of that line Al Bundy said back to his wife Peg.. "with every bullet so far" lol
flowofwoe Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 Hmmm. . . . well Troy. . . I'd like to be able to mark everything as "read" up until now. . . I can't seem to find a way to do that easily. Thanks for all the welcome backs. Yeah, the bullets miss me the most.
flowofwoe Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 welcome back ! cheers! Yay, it's Nerdcore! I missed you.
flowofwoe Posted July 20, 2007 Author Posted July 20, 2007 Hallo phillip! Nice haircut. Thanks. I'm actually working on growing it back. . . I shaved it off in december to start over, because I had dyed it way too much. Are you still in Alaska?
flowofwoe Posted July 20, 2007 Author Posted July 20, 2007 How could one not miss you? I don't know. Though I've never missed me. . .
mallochai Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Thanks. I'm actually working on growing it back. . . I shaved it off in december to start over, because I had dyed it way too much. Are you still in Alaska? Nnnoooooo, you should keep cutting it, it suits your face much better! You have a mouth like Ed Norton, short hair equals good. And no, I'm not in alaska anymore, I moved to Oregon last November. I'm MUCH happier here!

Thanks for all the welcome backs. Yeah, the bullets miss me the most. Hrmm. You read like 20,000 posts? I wouldn't think just because something was posted say 2 weeks ago that its any less relvant than it is today. But anyhow, you can mark forums as read (forums being the individual sections like "Music Discussion" "Nightlife" etc) by clicking on the "Options" button in the upper right corner and one of the choices is "mark as read". There is intentionally ( i think) no way to mark the whole board as read, as that would be unrealistic for most humans to have read the whole board all at once. Is that really going to get you to stay/post though? Myself i really don't even use manual the mark as read feature because i know its impossible for me to read all the posts. And, they arent read, they are just marked as such. I Just poke around and read things as i feel necessary and the individual posts that you read automatically mark themselves as read as you click on them. If something is a month old, it still might be interesting, so i leave it until i have time to read it. Anyhow good to see you around again.

Thanks for the tip though.
flowofwoe Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Since there are scads of new people around I thought I might answer the "new member" questions: Current location? Michigan Where from? Someplace just past Pluto ( I don't care what they say it's still a planet) and to the left of Alpha Centauri Gender? Male Work? I am software and systems dev for Abraham Harrison LLC. . . so I get to work 3 feet from my bed. School? KVCC, getting more when I feel like it. Kids? Nope. Married? Never Single? One singular sensation. . . Hobbies? Poetry, photography, modeling, reading, dancing very strangely in bars. . . How Did You Find DGN? I forget. . . I found it quite a while ago. Other Stuff? Hmmm. . . Feel free to ask some things.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Eh, I'm just spoiled on caucus software. Thanks for the tip though. hehe. I'm familiar with Caucus stuff actually the "classes" concept is roughly analogous to the "forums" on DGN and topics are analogous to "Conversations" i guess we could say. Invision Power Services Suite (what DGN runs on) is actually several orders of magnitude more complex and extensible. But like with anything there's always features here and there we get used to that don't always have a 1 to 1 equation with different software packages. Especially since Caucus and IPB serve very different functions (although related) Even the SHITTTTTTTTTY EzBoard© has a few features even to this day stuff like Caucus / Workflow / Php Board or whatever "subject project conversation management" software we are talking about doesn't have, or they do have them but just don't work the way i'd prefer... *shakes angry fist at the world* hah
