Star Wars expanded universe novels

I need some easy readin' and heard the Star Wars books are good brain candy. Any suggestions for a n00b to the expanded universe? Thanks!

The Timothy Zahn books were interesting, but I read them so long ago. I still think Grand Admiral Thrawn is a fantastic character.

Before they expanded into a series of books, and right after the movies, a book called "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" was published.

Read it when it was new and loved it.

Haven't read anything else - I'm not a big serial sci-fi fan.

timothy zahn is great and i recommend not getting the new jedi order ones at first since they are the newest, i havfe tons of them almost all more than happy to help and let u borrow of course
