I can't wait for my first public oppurtunity to pass these out! Though I had a couple of friends come over this past weekend and it was my first time meeting them, I gave them both a card. I dunno if they're going to join though :(

I haven't got a chance to pass many out. I tried leaving some in Hot Topic by the cd's (not allowed to put them on the desk with other flyers and such..) back when this topic was new and I didn't know Troy only wanted us to pass them out personally. Those cards were probably stolen, either that and/or whoever took them lurked here but decided not to register; I still have a crapload so I'm fine, I'd like to get more people over here who I could go decked out to gigs with and pass the cards out, lol. I'm not legally old enough to drink at gigs so that screws me over.

I did put the banner up on my myspace page, and I'm surprised that hasn't generated anyone. I'm going to write a bulletin tonight and see if that convinces anyone I know who might be lurking or whatever to get on here, post and such.

A well placed Myspace banner will bring some folks at some point. One of these days here im going to go on a myspace campagin to get as many people to put a good sized banner right near the top of their myspace pages.

Yeah personally passing out the cards is really the only way to have them be effective. "Hi... your not on DGN are you? " "Whats DGN?" *slap card in their hand*

People usually just toss random cards. But if you put it right in there hand and ask them if they are on DGN , they work much better. (see inital post)

Its a combination of persistance and technique. More about persistance. Basicly just mention it to them, and slap a card in hand. Really thats what has built DGN. More than any web ads, random spam here and there or anything else. Just person-to person "warm" marketing works best. Also when you get people on DGN this way, it tends to make for a nicer community because they feel they are talking to "real" people, not just random text at the end of some worldwide faceless website.
