Superteeth in Warren - where everything is $99

I learned about that from one of Jon's co-workers when I started investigating where to have my problem tooth worked on.

Had I not had a coupon for a more local dentist, I would have gone there. I hear they're very good.

They don't advertise that they do crowns and things like that, but they do. You'd have to call them for a price.

(note: they used to be $88 per service. It just went up to $99 in the past year.)

Not sure i ever went to a dentist without coverage. I currently don't have any though. Is that cheap? Since im not sure i ever saw a dentist bill i have no idea.

If i went to a random dentist and said "hey , clean my teeth.. and fill in any random cavities you may find" how much would that cost?

Cleanings by themselves cost, on average, $50 to $100.

Fillings generally run from $150-$250, depending on if you want silver or natural. The quoted price for a single natural filling for one of my teeth (work I will have done later) is $225.00.

Crowns run around $600-$1200. Bridges around $1700.

Extractions are $110 for a simple extraction, upwards of $250 for surgical extraction.

X-rays I'm not sure, as I've only paid for them on a $65 coupon deal.

The stated value of the $65 deal was $250 for exam, cleaning, full-xrays including Panorex & bitewings.

Around here, $99 is a bargain. I doubt I could find a dentist around here that would do the kind of re-build the dentist did for me in North Carolina for $150. He re-filled a molar and reconstructed about 1/4 of the missing tooth.

Dental care is exceptionally expensive. Altogether, the total bill for everything I have to have done in the next 12 months is appx. $3000. That's 2 fillings, one crown, one extraction & one bridge. And - for my age - I'm in pretty good condition. They expected me to be in much worse condition considering I haven't been to the dentist pretty much since 1997, when I last had dental coverage.

That's why poor people have bad teeth. Who can afford that? Jon grew up poor. Know how many times he's been to the dentist? Zero. He has never been. Again, it looks like he's getting a new job with dental coverage. We'll be getting him taken care of as soon as the coverage kicks in.

Thanks for the breakdown. =)

My dental insurance has paid $1500 this year for 1 crown, root canal, 5 fillings and one extraction. And that's just the insurance portion. I've paid around $700 out of pocket. Most of it went for the crown!

yeah, one of my teeth will need a crown later this year. I think the price on that was about $900.

Heh. Once the socket where they pulled my molar heals - say in about 3 months or so - I'm making my own temporary tooth. Believe it. I can't stand the thought of having an empty space on my jaw. Probably find some kind of Fimo or similar that bakes to a porcelain-like finish.

I wonder if i can actually go in there "just for a cleaning" i know my old dentist wouldn't do it. She basically told me you have to have a checkup first. Which in this example here im guessing would be $200.

You can have anything you want done - and JUST what you want.

I can't say about that particular dental office. But sometimes a "cleaning" involves more than them just getting in there with the rotary brush.

For instance, my cleaning included this procedure I've never been through before, where they take an instrument with a ruler of sorts imprinted on it and measure - I forget how they put it - basically the changes in tooth to gum to bone measurements. Then there was the procedure with the water-jet (a massively high-power water-pik basically) and then the rotary brushing. All that fell under the term "cleaning".

Check also for coupons. I have about a half dozen on hand that were sent by direct mail advertisement from the dentist I went to - $65 for cleaning, exam and full x-rays. They're in Allen Park. If you're interested, I'll scrounge up one of those coupons and mail it to you.
