Msterbeau Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 *RANT* Why the fuck do I have to fill out an application for employment that asks me for all my previous employer info???? It's on my fucking resume assholes!!!!! Why do I need to write it all out?????????????? Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No... I don't feel better now.
know_buddy_kares Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 hehehh.. I've always wondered the same thing... ..and even after you worked on a custom resume for them AND fill out their generic application, they can't even tell you a yes or no when you give the follow up phone call.
sass_in_the_pants Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 So that HR departments have yet another record of yours they can lose? Just a guess.
Destroit Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I always just attach a copy of my resume and put "see attached resume". I dunno, it worked for me. There's very few things I love more than filling out forms, but yeah, for some reason I hate applications.

creatureofthenyte Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 It actually states "Don't refer to resume". Fuckers. Well what the hell is that shit ? It isnt a quiz! If you want to refer to your resume to copy the info, then go for it.
Msterbeau Posted June 29, 2007 Author Posted June 29, 2007 Well what the hell is that shit ? It isnt a quiz! If you want to refer to your resume to copy the info, then go for it. I want the job. I will do as I'm told. *sigh*
Absinthe Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 As a girl that has been filling out a ton of these the last two months I get what you are saying. For most jobs I apply to they request a resume with cover letter and salary requirements. I give them that then I still have to fill out some long ass form asking for everything but my damn DNA. And the state I have to fill it out COMPLETELY and not put "refer to resume"...well then why did I bother bringing the fucking thing? What I hate is when I go through ALL OF THAT and they never even LOOK at the resume but go off of the form I filled out.
creatureofthenyte Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 the whole "right to work state" concept just sucks.
mallochai Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 It's a lame ass test to see if you are lazy, or likely to change information. I'm telling you dude, it's all a conspiracy. When I moved to oregon, I had to fill out an application for a job that I had already gotten.
TygerLili Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 When I moved to oregon, I had to fill out an application for a job that I had already gotten. Yeah, the last two jobs I've had I had to fill out the applications forms after they offered me the job, complete with the question "Why are you applying for employment here?" I'm not, stupid, you already hired me. The most recent job I actually had to fill out the application after I'd already been working there for a week.
Hellion Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Applications suck,I always have an up to date resume to give to them,I also have noticed alot of applications start looking the same, let alone want so much personal info on you and also your family.just look at the resume it tells the truth. some places you can only apply on line.
TrixieGothGirl Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 I really HATE filling out applications, especially when they expect you to remember where you worked at 15 or 20 years ago. I'm thinking, "WTF, like I can remember that far back", or with the generic ones it asks where you went to school at. Like that really matters when you're applying for a job. Those generic ones even ask where you went to elementry school. Another thing is when you fill the damn thing out, they call you for an interview, you go to the interview & they say "We'll get back to you" and they never do. Speaking of right to work states, Nevada is one of them.
