Mzdeadlyspell Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Had Intralase/Lasik surgery on June 1, 2007 Doing good so far, my sight is 20/25+ in both eyes. My night vision is great, and I can read signs while driving. I am estatic. How has everyone else fared? thanx
Nienna Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I had it done in 2004. Not so good. My vision is good, but I lost my nightvision almost entirely. I have halos and blurs around signs at night too. Glasses help it so I only really need them while driving or at work. I had to go in for a second procedure because cells from the outside of my eye were growing under the flap and they had to remove them. It was i all a hellish experience and I sort of regret it. If my eyes decline at all, I can no longer wear contacts either because the shape of my eye is changed. I don't know if I had bad luck, or bad doctor, or it was just too new of a thing.. but yeah. I'm usually glad I had it, but I really wish it has turned out better.
freydis Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I really would love to be able to go without my glasses, but aside from a few bad stories, the idea of them cutting on my EYE while concious really squicks me out....
Hellion Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I am still deciding let alone finding a good eyedoctor and what the prices are these days
sass_in_the_pants Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I had it in 2001ish. My vision slipped a few years later. I'm wearing glasses again. My sister had the same experience. My eye doctor said that is very unusual, though. Still, even though my vision isn't 20/20, it's still way better than it used to be. Basically, I can manage without glasses, but I squint a little. So, most of the time I wear my glasses again. Sigh.
CatsEyeOfTheWiccan Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I want get mine done, sick waring glasses. -CatsEye
Rayne Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I know a few people who have had it done with wonderful results ... I, however, can't use eyedrops or contacts I'm so squeemish of my eyes. I won't get it done. I'd rather suffer with glasses for the rest of my life than give someone permission to mess with my eyes.

I am gonna have it done, but I will self medicate first
Homicidalheathen Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Hubby had it done no problems and its the best thing he ever did.
Reaper Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Had it done and still have excellent vision over a year later. Well worth the $1800 I spent on it through Lasik Eye Institute.
artificialdawn Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 I was thinking of doing it, once I get the money up, and once it won't be some frivelous spending of cash I could use to get a car or something...
TygerLili Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I'll consider it when my eye doctor gets it done. Seeing my eye doctor, and most of the doctors I work for, wearing glasses does not reassure me too much.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I'm not an expert but the reading I've done just seems to give me the impression this is still a "immature" science. Just meaning it has not been around long enough and has not had enough of the kinks ironed out of it. If i was fairly sure it would work out just fine, and if it didn't, it was easily correctable I'd be all for it. But many of the "it didn't work" stories seem to end with "and they still haven't been able to repair it". Which kind of scares me. Also i personally don't need glasses all the time, they just seem to keep my headaches/anxiety to a minimum so my motivation to get it done is probably less than some. MzDeadlyspell i hope it works out for you and there are no problems at all. When it works properly i think its awesome. *well wishes*
Mzdeadlyspell Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 Thanks Troy...... So far so good, I just have to keep remembering to put in drops every two hours. Even though my eyes do not bother me. I do still wear goggles to sleep, in fear of getting a cat hair in my eye or something else. I will go for my one moth exam in the next few weeks. So far the most amazing thing for me is my night vision. I can drive and there is no halo's or anything. Now to pay this off..which will consequently take a bit....

Seeing my eye doctor, and most of the doctors I work for, wearing glasses does not reassure me too much. If he is older, that is most likely due to the fact that he would have to wear glasses anyway for reading. They say that even having Lasik is not going to stop your eyes from struggling to read print when you get old. They have a separate procedure for that call CK which rids you of the reading glasses.
Medea Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Lasik was better than sex You think everything is better than sex. I'm surprised you get laid anymore.
Head Wreck Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 whats this thing called sex. actually i like glasses. it gives me excuses to ignore stuff by not wearing them
jammers Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 my mom had it when it was still sort of new she can see without her glasses but still needs them for reading honestly i dont think i would get it unless my eyes got really bad and even then i think i would still wear some sort of glasses just because i think i look funny without them since i have had them for as long as i can remember
Daevion Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 You think everything is better than sex. I'm surprised you get laid anymore. I no longer have "sex", its a filthy insult to god.
Mzdeadlyspell Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 As of October 27, 2007 still doing wonderful! I barely use any drops at all... and see 20/20 I know it may sound crazy or a bit vain...but I am going to try and get some colored contacts for fun here after a year. Has anyone with lasik ever wore contacts after?
Brenda Starrr Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I want to get it done for Jeff. I just have to figure out where to go first. He wanted to do it last year, but I moved here and that ended it. So, it'll be my gift to him.
Nienna Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 As of October 27, 2007 still doing wonderful! I barely use any drops at all... and see 20/20 I know it may sound crazy or a bit vain...but I am going to try and get some colored contacts for fun here after a year. Has anyone with lasik ever wore contacts after? I tried. It was explained to me that the procedure makes your usually round eyeball into a football shape so normal contacta won't sit on your eye right anymore. They do make ones, called Toric lenses, that will fit the new eye shape but they didn't work for me. (It's still worth a try) The right eye fit fine and was perfectly comfortable, but the left eye just swam all over and was excruciating. (as Shade can attest to after having to help me frantically find a mall eyeglass place to beg a case and solution to take them OUT once.)
