Honestly dear, that has more to do with brand than anything else.

Like tires are to a car. It's a huge part of the equation.

I don't buy my car based on what tires are on it. They, like an OS, can be changed.

True. But you're missing the point. Tires are the only thing between the road and the rest of the car. The OS is the only thing between the user and the hardware.

And you're point to Rayne about brand. It's because Apple is who it is that their computers are consistently rated at the top of the heap. The user experience is excellent, the hardware is by and large, the best around and their customer service kicks ass. Steve Jobs my be an anal, paranoid nutcase, but he cares more about the product then any CEO out there. His vision isn't for everyone but that doesn't make it bad.

YOU appreciate different qualities then the typical Mac user. Don't put it down because you don't agree.

Point out exactly where I put anything down. My only negative comment was the limmited (by design to drive up costs to end user and direct repair/upgrades moneys back to apple rather than a 3rd party) hardware support.

Finally! I have found a laptop I don't have to replace once a year!

Seriously, 4 Windows based laptops in 4 years (top of the line too at the time they were purchased) ... had this one (a MacBook bought brand new in October) for 8 months without a single issue! By now I was hauling the others back to Best Buy to be shipped out or replaced about 4 times by now ...

That's all good if you can fork out $1500 for a laptop every year ... and deal without it for half the year because it's being worked on ... but why not pay the same and not be without it, unless you accidently leave it at home ...

I've had my PowerBook G4 for over 2 years now and not one problem. :)

Did you get lucky and not get one of the ones with the bad memory slot? How many CD/DVDs has it destroyed because Apple skimped on support around the cd drive? and isn't that the model that the screen hinges break all the time on? you don't have problems with failing keybaords? Do you use it to cook with? I read that they get extremly hot... and thats not even ounting the batterys exploding...

Oh wait.. It's a Mac... forget all that... none of it's real... Macs are perfect and never have problems.

Well, they are perfect. Thanks for finally acknowledging it!

Seriously though, I've never had any of those problems with my laptop. I also have two desktops and never had any issues with those either.

I'm happy with my IBM Thinkpad,I have had no problems what so ever.

The only problem I may have is when the internet wi-fi signal drops here

and there, but thats history now that I got ahold of an AT&T air card for 35

bucks, now I never have internet droppage at all.

I do like MACs but the price never seems to be reasonable.

You are lucky. Computers break. No matter what brand they are or who made the hardware/software. Tehy all have problems. I prefer a PC, but I am not adverse to macs. I own a green iMac. I use it to download things from sites I dont trust or know will try to infect me with something. That is mac's one great advantage over a PC. Small enough market share to not make it worth it to write viruses and spyware for. Same advantage Firefox has over IE. Obscurity.

Nope, no bad memory slot. I had a huge issue with memory failing in my Toshiba laptop.

No CD's or DVD's have been damaged in this laptop. None in any of my other laptop's either ... My HP had a huge issue not ejecting the CD's and I'd have to use a a paperclip.

No screen hinge issues here ... but my Toshiba, the LCD screen burned out in less than a year. We are pretty sure it's from a wire getting pinched in the hinge and eventually separating.

Nope, no keyboard issues here.

This laptop runs about 75% cooler than any of the HP's I had and I'd say about 50% cooler than my Toshiba one I had. In fact, I gave the cooling pad I had along with the Toshiba went I sent it to be fixed (where it still is today).

The exploding batteries, to the best of my knowledge were all recalled. Mine wasn't.

I haven't had a single issue with this laptop. I'm not saying I won't ... it's inevitable. It's unaviodable. It's going to happen. Luckily, Apple backed me up with a 3 year warranty so when it does, I don't have to invest in ANOTHER laptop.

So far, I am very happy with my decision to switch.

I can remember telling Phee when he suggested a Mac, that I was so used to PC's I couldn't imagine it ... I wasn't even really sold when I bought it to tell you the truth. I hated the OS for about 3 weeks. As time wore on ... I got used to it and now ... I love it.

There's nothing wrong with PC's. My desktop is a PC. I've only had 2 or 3 problems with it and I have had that same desktop since 1999. It still runs Windows 98. LOL.
