Nerdcore Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 OK so Im trying to find another place that has resonable prices for eye exams and for new frames and such ( I do not have insurence) besides Expencive D.O.C. ( where I have been going and there frams are expencive) what other places that are within good price have funky cheep frames and cheep eye exams ?
Nienna Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Go to vintage and thrift stores and find some funky frames you like. They'll probably be cheap. Then take them to Walmart or Sam's club or somewhere "discount" and get lenses fitted in them. That's what I used to do when I had no insurance.
Fierce Critter Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Ditto that. My husband and I don't have eye coverage. We found a deal at a place down here (NC) that had glasses, exam & frames (selected models) for $99.00. His frames ended up breaking a year later, and we went to Wal-Mart and found a pair of reading glasses that had the exact same shape & size as his broken ones. We just popped the lenses into those frames, anf voila - brand-new glasses for $18.00. So long as the frames have a screw that allows the lens to be taken out and put back in, you can use just about any frames. So check out Wal-Mart, K-Mart and other stores that sell reading glasses, sunglasses, etc. Just be careful to make sure they're good quality - spring hinges, etc. You dont' want to go with cheap ones that'll end up breaking the first time you wear them.
TomCat Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Yeah, glasses are too damn expensive...I'm hoping to save enough money to get my eyeballs lazered this summer. :
Nienna Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Yeah, glasses are too damn expensive...I'm hoping to save enough money to get my eyeballs lazered this summer. : <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did that 2 years ago... It's a rough few days after, but I went from legally blind to 20/20 vision in both eyes. Well worth the $$.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Only place i ever went to get glasses (only recently started wearing them and usually only for reading) is now, out of business. It was a mom and pop place that my grandparents had been going to since the dawn of time, and then my parents, me... >snif Boy that was a lot of help huh?
