crunchy_pickle (5) Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 The heart beats against the grains of time, Keeping time, passing time, defying time. Time ceaselessly beats against it though, Crushing and bruising it. There's a hole in us, It will never be filled. There's a soul in us, It will never be filled. Blacker skies remind me, That I am just a darker shade of gray. Scraping and yearning, For past sunshines that fade away. In life, in love, We love, we live. In pain, til death. We take, we give. We drink yes we drink The nectar of the Gods. We sing, we drink, Because we are Gods. We have answered the questions, That Job could not. We have seen things, Yet here we rot. There is no promised land for us, Too many promises we've broken. Lullabies from hell lull us, While our hearts lay open. We always want more, But the Earth is dying. So we play the whore, And we keep on trying. We have loved and learned, Been shoved and burned. Of all the points we've plotted, Of all the things that we've discarded. Our hearts that make us who we are, Are often left disregarded. What is love without passion? What is fire without flame? When we do nothing to solve anything, And give puppets all the blame. This world is ours It can take away our freedom It can take away our minds It can take away our everything But it cannot take The Heart..... What an underrated organ when morality, courage, and choices are left to popular opinion.
Amerist Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Time ceaselessly beats against it though, Along with the repetition of time, thou should probably aim to prevent other words from repeating. Use something other than “beats” and the word “though” isn’t really needed. Scraping and yearning,For past sunshines that fade away. I really liked that line. Poor hearts, faceless heroes if thou ask me.
