what are your favourate 5 albums in your collection?

Posted

Sigh. It's really hard for me to answer this question without resorting to including a lot of greatest hits collections.

That said... I'll try not to.

U2 - The Unforgettable Fire - am I the only person who thinks this album kicks Joshua Tree's ass in a MAJOR way?

The Cure - 17 Seconds

Split Enz - Time & Tide

R.E.M. - Fables of the Reconstruction

Pretenders - Pretenders

Gads. That's a really difficult one.

And I think "Boy" kicks both of those albums asses! U2 at their darkest, most passionate. :) An Cat Dubh, man!

Blarg! I don't know why I am attempting to answer this question! Too hard...and I'm certain my list changes quite regularly. But the one I've got for today goes something like (in no particular order):

Songs of Love and Hate -- Leonard Cohen

Gentlemen -- The Afghan Whigs

Roxy Music -- Roxy Music

Pornography -- The Cure

Louder Than Bombs -- The Smiths (ok, a compilation, but still...)

Ack ack, this is not fair.

Thing is, I prefer earlier U2 live.

I could have put down "Under a Blood Red Sky" but I prefer Fire overall.

(I have a tape made in the 80's from the radio of a king biscuit flower hour live U2 concert with an incredible version of An Cat Dubh. Someday I'd like to find it on CD)

Haus Der Luge: Einsturzende Neubauten

Cabaret: Das Ich

Spectators: Wolfsheim

Silence is Sexy: Einsturzende Neubauten

Nihil: KMFDM

um... yeah. All germans. I sincerely don't know how that happened. I mean, I do like lots of other nations/artists/genres, but those happen to be the tried-and-true top 5.

Funny that there are also no big, legendary, renown artists in there too (no Beatles WTF?) but really, these works have made me feel things no other artists can. Which is funny since the only truly legit artists on this list are Neubauten. Das Ich are pretentious, Wolfsheim are formulaic Depeche Mode-esque synth pop and KMFDM are completely brainless and emotionless. C'est la vie.

KMFDM is French.

KMFDM is French.

Not really. I mean, they were formed in Paris, sure, but I'd say they're a German band.

"Hysteria"-Def Leppard

"Tales Of Topigraphic Oceans"-YES

"Slang"-Def Leppard

There's also a Rob Zombie collection that comes with a DVD that I like but I can't remember the name of the CD.

These are just a few of my all time faves that I can think of right now.:peanutbutterjellytime:

Sascha is German and I think you're the first person I've ever heard call them French.

My top five are (maybe)

Hau ruck - KMFDM

Their law: the singles 1990 - 2005 - Prodigy

WWIII - KMFDM

Between the bridges - Sloan

Rubber soul - The Beatles
