Head Wreck Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 you should see what i put myself through 6 days a week.....
Kit Kat P Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 So Saturday was in a Jumphouse off and on at a picnic. A lot of fun and oddly a form of exercise. And then later a weekend tumble.
Destroit Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I usually go to the gym and do the following (before I got lazy and busy within the last few months): Monday, Wednesday, Friday are just cardio, I'll usually go on the eliptical and run for roughly 7-8 miles burning off something like 500 calories or something. It depends on how lazy I am that day. Tuesday Thursday is when I get to embarass all of the girlies and fully humiliate fat dudes at the gym because I am more manly then all of them. When there's girls next to me lifting like 30 lbs I scoff, because damn I have muscle and you couldn't catch me in public showing off my sissyness that way (or lack thereof). One of my chick friends wanted me to join a girl gym and I was like "dude no, then there would be no competition, and then I wouldn't be motivated to push it to the point of almost dying, hence not getting a full workout" I guess I'm just the aggressive type That and when I was single, I couldn't imagine going to the gym and not seeing hot dudes getting hotter. I'm not for big muscles, but I do like my boys toned and lean (i.e. Raven ). But now, since I've cut back massively on working out I'm starting to get all gooey and feminine (BLECH GROSS). So yeah, I've been trying to correct that by weight training two days a week and then doing DDR (Dance Dance Revolution for the gamingly naive) for like an hour every day. A half hour of DDR = 400 calories gone, so it's actually more effective than the eliptical. Then you also get good at something BAMF and you can go to the mall and show up all the Asian kids and totally pwn their dance skillz. It's all worth it.
Head Wreck Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 warm ups; arm swing squats x 10 lean back, toe touch x10 (lean back as far as can, then bend forward exhaling all air out of lungs to touch toes or lower if you can go) side crunch x10 (hands on head and exhale as upper half of body leans to side, inhale as upright, exhale as lean to opther side, inhale as upright) 10 shoulder rolls forward 10 shoulder rolls backward leg stretches x10 mondays, wednesdays and saterdays: excercises sit ups, palms down in arch of back, 2x10 leg raises 2x10 (lie on stomack and exhale as raise legs together pressing dwon with clenched fists at sides) pressups raised, 2x10 crossover crunches 2x10 intensified (ie steady rythm, not done so fast you dont benefit) (2 stage, exhale using intercostals as up, exhale with diaghram as twist) tricep dips 1x20 lumbar raises 2x10 (as leg raises but rais e upper body of floor instead of legs, continue to press fists down on floor, thumbs down close to your sides) abdominal crunches 2x10 (on back, legs crossed, hands clawwed at sides, push your legs up and into your chest, pressing on fingertips, when lowering stop legs 2" short of resting on ground, repeat) tiger stretches 2x10..... these are wierd full body pressups on the fingertips where you diver forward and roll back in a circular motion with your arms tucked into your sides. thier tough and work most of the body) heel raises, 2x10 on each foot suspended arm twists 3x5 need a wieght suspended by rope onto a wooden rod, held shoulder width and hieghts straight outwards, you now coil the rope around the stick by wrist action alone, working the rope rotating away from you) chinning bar sequence of 3,4,5 tues, thurs and sundays: yoghic strectches i will detail after work tomorow (i just realised time) after a series of cardio vasc excercises (practice blocks on the training dummy, running, speeded footwork (footwork nowerdays now also consists of having to use the blocks and taal on oponents and vice versa) fridays. dance like a drunken idiot every other week and/or go for a run. i carry on up the fittness groups i will be taught pranic healing which i am looking forward to
Kit Kat P Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 Walked/ run/ dead stop w/ the dog. She's trying to kill me.
Fin Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Hi KitKatP! I was basically born in the water, so rarely a (week)day goes by when I don't swim about 1700 meters @ the pool. Summer is prime-time for triathlons, & I am a competitor--so in summer I tend to bike or run as a 2nd work out at least three or four times a week. Sometimes I'd rather be watching scary black-&-white thrillers. But it makes me feel good. :-> So here's what I was thinking. We could start keeping each other accountable by posting on here each time we work out and how much. Not what we plan on doing but once we actually get up and help our selves. Consider it bragging w/ ibuprofen included. I went to the gym today and did 10 min.s on the treadmill and then sit-ups and reverse crunches.
Kit Kat P Posted August 27, 2007 Author Posted August 27, 2007 so this weekend I did a lot of oaring (is that word?) and am deliciously sore and bruised all over, but man did we have fun. I'm so counting that as a work-out.
TrixieGothGirl Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I don't mind working out as long as it's fun. I have to be careful that I don't do anything too strenuous because it can turn my tension headaches into migraines. Not fun. I like to do Tae Bo. I really enjoy doing that. Running & jogging is out of the question for me because of my headaches.
Head Wreck Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Walked/ run/ dead stop w/ the dog. She's trying to kill me. mine do that. they run for a bit then stop dead on front of me. thank god i tend to run on the beach

Destroit Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 On Wednesday Raven and I went to Old Country Buffet. I'd say I probably burned about 200 calories getting up from our table (we picked one in the back for optimal calorie burninating) and walking up to the buffet bar for the 8-10 plates I ate. Gawd I'm fat. Anyone wanna join the fat club? So far Troy and I are the only members but we're taking applicants, you get a laminated card and a 10 dollar gift certificate for KFC
Kit Kat P Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 Jello Wrestling followed by dancing
Ivy13 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 With our new lease we get a free membership at Powerhouse Gym. I started last week and went 3 times with 30 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes on the machines. None so far this week but plan on going Wednesday. I ate peanut butter cookies today though. My bad.

Brother_Hood Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 If people are really serious about getting in shape check out www.crossfit.com The workouts at first seem really insane, but you can build up. It's nice because there is a different workout every day and you can substitue exercises if you don't have the equipment. Read their article about what it means to be fit. It makes the most physiological sense. http://www.crossfit.com/cf-download/CFJ-trial.pdf I think it really makes the most sense - true fitness isn't about being only strong or having tremendous cardio it is the balance of ten attributes: cardio, stamina, strength, flexibility, speed, power, coordination, balance, agility, and accuracy.

Bpage Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Training for a 10k in November, my husband just ran his first marathon and he's really inspired me. Two years ago he was a 2 pack a day smoker. So far this week my squirrelfriends and I have done 6 miles. Monday we're hiking to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite (it's the mountain on the back of the California quarter), a 10 hour hike should burn off a few calories!!! Great thread, let's keep everyone inspired and working out!!!!
Head Wreck Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 HW is now at 12 stone. more to loose and more muscle in the right areas to gain. oh, welcome back BPage. long time no see!
