Detroit Is Is Full Of Mad Villain Henchmen

Some friends of mine just toured through Detroit this last weekend and wound up at a house party that got robbed by 15 gunmen O.o

Tough town, guys. I live in Oakland and have never heard of anything happening like that before.

Were any of you there or heard about it?

Fairly occurrence in all "Hoods" as far as i know. I have friends that live in a bad areas of SF, Chicago and Detroit, i get similar stories practically every other week depending on who I'm talking to during different time periods. What you "hear" and what actually happens are far different things. "Hood news" isn't particularly interesting, doesn't get reported all that often so our perceptions are skewed... even if we do follow the news. (which many of us don't)

Detroit , isn't the bad ass town it once was though, the kinder gentler Detroit has been at hand for like a decade. Chicago/LA/NYs (larger and more well developed , longstanding criminal cultures) bad guys will eat Detroit's bad guys for breakfast. (thus move to detroit)

In terms of detroit proper though, there is a big difference between say (Mack, Conner and Gratiot - deep shitsville/hood) and downtown Woodward & Michigan Ave (fairly safe, tourist-esqe area)
