Didn't play with Tonka trucks, but Slinky's were great back then. Now they are made out of plastic and they suck :verymad:

my little brother had them big metal trucks, which he rammed into my shin one day cuz i refused to put nickelodeon on for him, blood gushed, i have a scar.

god i miss toys like that. kids are pussies now. they need dangerous toys while they're young. two reasons... 1- to toughen them up when they reach adulthood. what happens without this? one word: Emo and 2- if they kill themselves as kids they probably wouldnt have been the greatest adults. the heard can always use some thinning.

On the subject here, I never really had toys because I always had fun breaking them instead of playing with them. Like putting GI joes in the microwave and pretending there trying to survive through a 500 degree nuke desert that was created by a giant hole in the ozone layer.

Metal lunch boxes were the shit,if anyone at recess messed with you,you could smash it over their head,always worked for me.LOL!!

Metal transformers=so much cooler. It just doesn't feel right using a plastic car.

I lost a metal die cast Vultron toy in my divorce. :( *SNIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFLES* I would Kill for my brother's transformers.. I'm guessing my mom (the non-pack rat) gave them away to sal's army, only to be picked up by someone my age re-living their childhoods. *sighs*

lawn jarts (or darts I cant remember) were the coolest. Having to yell watch your head when throwing them was so much fun. Stabbing people with the nice sharp pointy end also was a fun use of the toy. Now they are all plastic and have weights in the end instead of a metal spike

you dont see kids with enough circus related toys any more. when i was a kid most of us had something crazy-fun that we could definitely hurt ourselves on but that was half the fun. trampolines, stilts, unicycles... we would juggle whatever bottles we could get ahold of. steal kitchen knives to throw at targets, or each other. when the entire neighborhood got together we could entertain ourselves for days on end.

That's the problem, kids just don't know how to entertain themselves anymore; it's more like entertain me.

We always had fun way before video games and computers were in every household.

I remember my friend telling me that during the summer months, her mother used to lock them out of the house, so they would play with the neighbor kids instead of staying inside and watching TV. Kids need more of an excuse to go outside.

I also remember hanging out with MY neighbor friends making pear/mud pies and trying to dare eachother to eat it.. *sighs* those were the days. :)

Do kids play doctor or house anymore? Or even cowboys and indians?

No, now it's western frontier's individuals and native Americans.

I really hate all of this PC shit. Kids of this generation are pussies now a days. What ever happened to getting bumps & bruises when playing outside? That's another thing; play. Todays kids don't even know how to play anymore. In some schools they're not even allowed to play tag, dodgeball or hide & seek. Even musical chairs has been outlawed because someone "might" get left out. Give me a fucking break already. Kids need to be kids.

Lawn jarts! I have the metal ones. Needless to say, EVERYONE wants me at their party (and I best not forget the jarts).

I had transformers,

and Voltron.

That was one of the best time periods in my life.

My BMX bike that I customized myself was also,

a prized possession.

I also enjoyed hitting golf balls with a baseball bat,

just to see how far it would go;

always used to send the ball into lunar orbit lolol.

      About to head up to Roseville to return this rental and pick up my truck from the auto shop.  It is supposedly sporting a newly fabricated frame rail...I don't think they are referred to as "chassis" anymore as I see the confusion in shop owner's eyes when they ask me if I'm looking for "body work?".   But I do find it interesting that I told the owner that I worked direct with OEM parts and yet he still wrote me up an invoice with overpriced OEM parts from companies I used to host at the place I used to work for.  With that said, I'm expecting a stellar job for the amount I paid.   ...else, there will be some talk negotiations.

      ~~~~~ Definitely wishing you luck.  Do enjoy yourselves.   But I have to admit, the first thing that came to mind was does roadside assistance reach the desert? 😬
      ~~~~~ Yeah, it's like something happened to my metabolism this past Winter and when I came out of hibernation, that AARP Join Request started looking like something to check into.

      This 👆 definitely goes with what I said in my other post - getting old sucks. Seems like *everything* takes longer and takes more energy out of me than it used to. Really need to work on my diet and exercise, I've found the older I get, the more important those things have really become...
