I feel like one of those take-errthing-too-seriously bleeding hearts for not laughing at that... the concept is great, it was well done, & the Steve Irwin guy was dead on... but... I kept thinking about all these worthless fuckwits who are going around beating & killing homeless people... it's happening a LOT more the past couple years. So it's kind'a hard for me to laugh at anything that further marginalizes people who have it helly rough as it is.

Feel free to advise me to lighten up... that's my usual response to people who get all serious about funny stuff... I guess other-ness issues are just heavy on my mind lately.

My friends Jay and Sean wanted to do a barbecue outside, which I'd have been down for because I'm not boycotting the outside of the club, just the building itself. Then I brought up the fact that I didn't want to fight bums off with a stick and there went that idea. Now we're thinking maybe Mephisto's.

A lot of those guys are homeless due to being mentally ill and unable to get treatment for one reason or another... since inpatient treatment is largely a thing of the past and outpatient programs lose more funding every year... how exactly does that qualify them as scum?

The old folks used to say, if you mock the afflicted, your children will turn out that way. The old folks used to say a fair amount of stupid shit, but I always kind'a liked that one... it fits my admittedly old-school sense of karmic justice.
