Homicidalheathen Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I am giving it up today with a friend. We both talked to someone who was using it to stay awake and study and he said when he gave it up he actually had more energy Ugh. Not this morning.....why today? I have sooo much to get done. I will do this. I will NOT give in and let that bitch beat me at this lol..........
Onyx Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 If you cut down gradually you can avoid the withdrawal headaches. I used to avoid caffeine completely and I did have more energy. Seems every time I try I end up going back on caffeine due to missing sleep one night and having to be at work early the next day. It's a vicious cycle. It's hard to do without.
Jadis Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Drink lots of water. You can do it! And you will have LOTS more energy. I used to be a Mt. Dew addict... I gave it up. I was so sad but now it's all good. Good luck!!!
saechalyn Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I can't function without caffeine. I've tried to give it up a few times but when the headaches still weren't gone after two months and my work was suffering, I went back. I drink a lot less than I used to, so that's something, but I'll never give it up entirely.
DarkVampire Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Good luck with that. I certainly wouldn't want to be by you in the first couple of weeks. I did quit many years ago. I was a bitch to be around for the first couple of weeks. Migraines and all of that nasty stuff. I was successful for a couple of years. One day I blew it by accepting a can of Dr. Pepper from a friend. Like what is this one time going to hurt? Ha! I got stuck on caffeine again. I tried to quit a few years ago, didn't happen. I am not going through with migraines again. I'm stuck on caffeine until the day they bury me. Good luck though, hopefully you will succeed.
Dollardave Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 What made you decide to give up caffiene hon? $$
Homicidalheathen Posted August 30, 2007 Author Posted August 30, 2007 Oh well I gave in today but will start new again tomorrow...I just need more energy in the long run and no quick fixes that harm me today.
Kit Kat P Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 If you normally drink a lot of coffee you NEED to quit slowly, it's pretty harmful to your body to stop cold turkey. At least switch up the type of caffeine to a lower dosage then gradually stop. I'm speaking from a bit of experience. Don't forget that your friend might have a completely differ metabolism. Either way, I wish you luck will be sending you hopes for calmness and no headaches.
