Lund, Sweden refuses to work around a Vista bug, so people who live there must choose between Vista and internet access. It's nice to see the right people being held accountable for a change.

So, how is it MS's fault if the sysadmin wont tell anyone what the problem actually is?

It's not, but he shouldn't have to anyway (I don't know could compromise his security possibly?). This is what I call a great irony since MS doesn't want to be compatible with ANYTHING but is usually forced to. Maybe this will make some users switch to Linux and help rid the world of that evil virus.

This is my first posting on my new laptop, and vista isn't exactly doing it for me either.

If he doesn't tell anyone, including Microsoft, what the exact problem is... how the hell is Microsoft sopposed to fix the problem?

Don't know, don't care. Maybe the sysadmin is trying to force everyone to switch to a UNIX based OS in which case I applaud his decision.

How is it his, or your decision, what OS a home user has on thier PC?

BTW... I researched this a bit. The problem is that the DHCP server wont give Vista clients an IP address. There is an optional flag in TCP that Vista has by default "on". It's a simple reg edit to turn it off. Or config the server to accept that flag being on.

It's not mine, but it IS his since he is the system administrator/dictator. He has the power to say "switch or be denied access". People too stupid to edit the registry shouldn't be allowed on the internet anyhow.

No it is not his system. It's theirs. It's a city run ISP for the citizens, paid for by their tax dollars.

Not his system but it is his network. If they want windows on the net that badly let them use it in their own little private LAN.

Maybe he's denying them use of the internet because of the security risks involved in using Windows.
